If HRZ previous owner deserves to die for his crimes, why don't her brother deserves to die for all the sexual harassment/rape he committed.
FINALLY I find one good thing about ZXW, he is being a good Lord and making sure everybody pay for their crimes against their family FL family, HRZ and Meng's. She accuses him of bias when she is asking him to let the murderer go and cutting deals to make sure her family gets away with the crimes. as far he having his nose in everything, he is a Lord of sate and there are big assassination events going on in his mansion, anybody at his place would be pissed and meddling. The drama choices between both genders kinda differs like, I created this account cuz I like "The Lost Tomb" series and was trying to track, when "The wild Tibetan flower" will release. So if you check the comment section of dramas related to WAR and other Wuxia topics, you will see a lot of men in comment section. but in Rom-coms like this there are usually female MDL users here and even in this drama, I started it and initially watched it under the assumption. There are multiple ML and it would another reverse harem like Eternal Love season 3 (I thought FL will take all of them as concubines) but unfortunately No.

Then we have Destined, FL went from un-wanted daughter to the post powerful/rich woman in entire nation and ML was already son of most rich family in nation but then he become Prime Minister and kept his position. Then there is New life begins.....ML become Emperor and FL was powerful. Love like Galaxy: Niao Niao become famous and ML kept his title and evn become more powerful These are the ones I can remember on whim but there are numerous other famous titles, where its not the case and even the Long Ballad is against your description cuz ML went lord of eagle division to Leader of all tribes and FL got her title back.

So it's quite possible the editing room removed his scenes to make room for FL to shine bit more, I personally believe you can make strong FL lead drama's without destroying ML character and Love like the Galaxy and The long Ballad are good examples of this.
