ML found a girl near-death state in the pond and decided to save her life out of kindness (it wasn't his job or responsibility), he may have lied to her but didn't cross any limit. I know he is using her and kinda dick about somethings, but he isn't a bad guy per say and don't deserve any harsh punishment.... especially extreme physical punishment like kick in nuts, which can lead to Extreme pain, vomiting, passing out, suicide and in serious case death (yeah people have died cuz of it and tried to end themselves).

He is the old Emperor's brother and Uncle to the puppet child Emperor. The Empress is against him because she wants to remove the threat to her rule as a reagent in the name of her child. I have not read the novel, but my guess is,
ML brother may have named him a reagent or his father wanted him to inherit the throne, but due to the tracheary current Empress captured it, now ML has big army and support of his mother (Empress dowager). Hence, she wants to either cripple his power or kill him to secure her position as a reagent. While ML doesn't seem to have any interest in ruling.

He was in support and third ML role in dramas, you mentioned and hence according to industry standards its accolades don't belong to him. If we follow your way of doing things then Zhou Ye is GREAT ACTRESS (which she is but still young and below her peers like NiNi) cuz her film Better days 2019 received Oscar nomination.
I am not against the guy but I have yet to see anything, that blew me away !

His acting in Lost you forever was Okay/good and actors that actually blew everyone away and achieved career breakthrough were Yang Zi and Tang Jian. Mind you I don't hate the guy or anything like this but also understand, where people are coming from his acting in general role is bit weak, but he captures the essence of prince role.
It's too early to call it but when FL finds out about his identity, and he has to play a complicated character dealing with duties, lovesickness and yet appear loyal. Then we will know about his acting prowess!

I recommend you watch the opening scene again, they camera zoomed in on the assassin (with tree mask) and that person clearly has Wang Chu Ran eyes and slender frame of a woman. So, its clear she is infamous Lu Wen and that means, entire concubine thing is a sham spread by our classical-cliche-loaded SML, who will grovel at FL feet !

Okay I already suspected/knew FL is the leader of the group due to opening scene of the drama. They zoomed on the masked person assassin, that person clearly had eyes of Wang Chu Ran and slender frame of the woman. (it leaves no doubt in anybody mind who that person is)
So, I knew she was the one who shot arrow at him but its good to know that, she wasn't married to him or anything like this and "they're kinda in relationship" it means SML was at her feet 24/7 and she was treating him as a close friend. While he was spreading fake rumors and making everyone believe, they are in intimate relationship!

Was Fl actually the concubine of the Lu Wen guy cuz I remember he kidnapped/adducted her from her weeding and its quiet likely, she held grudges and was no intimate with him at all.
So, was she actually his concubine or it was just rumors and confusion spread by Lu guy?
Who was FL actually supposed to marry?
Was it ML or someone else !

as for Chinese woman with unrealistic standard thing, you can differentiate reality from fiction but they can't and vast majority of them even in their 30's demand the same thing over and over again.
Chinese parents even demand grooms to give them a house in bethroral gifts !
I am also South-Asian (immigrant in Asia) but damn, Chinese guys have it worst !
