I hate infedility cuz usually I am very busy with surgeries and don't have time and energy to deal with people antics, let alone investigate her scandal and it's same for my G.F.
So for me going on date, when your boyfriend clearly told you not to go and you promised, you will say No to the Zhao... people like to bring up ML dinner. But FL was already there to date and she didn't informed her boyfriend a out change of plans (hence it's cheating)...she waited for the guy for five minutes but when he didn't show up. She got angry and was about to leave but saw ML having dinner with client and sfl, then without communicating with her boyfriend decided to wait till the night for guy to appear and cheat.
Going on date without informing your partner, when you are in a committed relationship is cheating...whole ML dinner thing happened after the fact, she could have message Zhao and said No like she promised ML she would, she could told him No in office, she could have said No while putting on the makeup, driving there, while waiting for the guy. She had 100 chances to say No but she didn't and just cuz guy didn't show up doesn't mean...she didn't tried her best and waited whole night to cheat !
You are saying ML was informed, you mean when he caught her red handed and before that he clearly told her to refuse it.

Everybody is speaking from their on dating experience here and I have been in relationships for six years (we started young) but not once my g.f did childish things like FL.
We had problems but nobody was out there giving mixed signals to their ex's cuz it's extremely disrespectful to your partner. I personally believe least you can do in a relationship is stay loyal to your partner and I do pay for majority of stuff (I can easily afford it) but she saves her money for both of us and recently paid for lion share of the car under my name. Talking to people here has taught me, she is very very good to me and I may have hit jackpot.
So, that's why I was cursing FL and was against her date debacle and giving unnecessary attention to her ex....I just hate infedility and thank God it has never happened to me !

I agree with he growth part but I can give little insight into why people (which were majority MEN) reacted that way.
I am not throwing shade and accusing anybody but in L.A people actually behaves like FL, they cheat blame the guy, the want him to be rich, yet always have free time on his hand to deal with antics like her.
The overwhelming blow-back you see from one gender is due to trauma they suffer in real life and now they have put up with it in entertainment too. Secondly according to my Chinese colleagues, dramas like these have completely ruined dating in Chinese mainland and woman have very unrealistic demands...like feet, 7 figures salary, pay for everything in her life, cheats and expects him to put up with it and must have home and sports car.
So, that's one of the reasons I don't like it and CCP may crackdowns on dramas like this soon cuz their birth rate has plummeted and dudes completely refuse to date, let alone marry anyone !

He is completely replaceable in the script and sole purpose is to make love triangle and make ML jealous. FL have been very clear from the get go !

We were shown numerous scenes according to which ML treated master as his father and family.

You are the one, who stated Luo Yun Xi, Allen Ren and others are nothing and Wang hedi is a superstar. While in reality guy can't even sell a drama on his own.
Take Only for Love for instance, its a near flop drama and Bai Lu was the one who brought majority of the traffic but it still flopped. You are basing your entire argument on the fact, that some random dude on their entertainment channel said Wanf Hedi is bankable years ago.

Till the end of moon was best historical drama till that date and LBFAD was way below it and it did managed to attain 9500K heat index for a day but fell shortly after that. We can deduce viewership numbers cuz production don't release them anymore, but it was considered good drama but its 1000% guaranteed to be far far below TOTEM and 10 million.

Again, Xu Kai is popular outside the china and within the chinese entertainment industry, he is considered uprising to small traffic actor. He is a good actor with wide range as proven by his earlier works, especially the "The Story of Yanxi palace" but his agency is hell bent on destroying his career and reputation.
I have seen him play the rich guy CEO type roles wayyyy to much now and infact whenever he plays the underdog like in "Wonderland of love" he gets good reviews and viewership for it.
He is a man with talent but unfortunately no way near top dog like Zhang Ruo Yun but I really hope, he dumps that freaking agency and gets there one day...his latest release was step in right direction (he finally showed his Yanxi palace era range and that grief era was testament to it).

I didn't knew Chinese people actually do this in real life and its realistic but I am happy with latest episodes, Nepo SFL and her antics is pretty realistic and even I have personally dealt with HOD (head of department) son, who got promoted when he didn't even meet the minimum quota and hospital HR sided with them. Just like him it won't end better for SFL.
Their current argument is also realistic, and couples have to learn to see problems from other position too. Life has habit of throwing curve balls at you and in my opinion, you can only be considered to be in actual relationship. When you solve big problem together as a couple and I am happy FL showed maturity this time and didn't try to run away from the problem.

Let's set the record straight both leads were wrong in their respective decisions (ML for hurting his mother at this time putting his opinion above her, FL for losing her confidence cuz of a minor set-back) but at the same time both are suffering from deep trauma and have solid reasons for their current behaviour.
Unfortunately for both of them, they have to power through, man up and deal with it, otherwise they will regret it for rest of their life.
