The main road where he leave his car even just as empty as the alley so it's understandable that she choose the alley as the fastest way to dissapear out of his sight immediately.
It's heartbreaking for YD indeed, to see & hear YY sentence no matter she has plead innocent. But all this accussation actually caught YY offguard & he need to buy the time to look for the evident and prove her innocence, otherwise him defending YD will only make it worse, trigger the Emperor to suspect them being in love & give YD a heavier sentence.
Yes YY shd hv told YD that he recognized her that instant, how he did this out of concern for her safety and he doesn't want to hurt YD by exposing YX lies but YY might guess that it'd change nothing (as they can't be together) & will only bring her more trouble. By the time YY realize his mistake & see how hurted is YD, it's already too late & him telling her his reason might sound as an excuse so I guess he'll just silently took all the blame & received YD hatred (which she's rightfully feel).
I can't help but feeling sad for the tragic end YD & YY is heading. Hopefully their 2nd arc in the mortal world will be nothing but a bliss for them.

Totally agree, I often had to force myself to watch earlier ep of Other Xinxia from how draggy they are & main leads barely interacted w/ eachother or even met yet. But here, everything is happening so fast, a huge battle has been done in less than 10ep & 1st arc may completed only in dozen ep. It makes me wonder if ppl who said IS had a slow pace really watch the series since they're anything but slow pace.
