I do agree on your take, but actually am leaning more towards the first alternative, I think it's more plausible that the writer's initial plan might be having HJP as her end game but there might be some invisible hands come interfere within the production & there's probably another drama come into play behind the scene. Because seeing the writer's past work which usually good (or even great) overall with good message, it's really hard to believe how she write NDS character like this, unlikeable, petty, childish, has no integrity and so on without redeeming his mistakes (basically the way his character has been portrayed in the 2nd half) if she intend to make the viewers to root for him. You're probably right that it might be a sign of her protest to the people who forced her to change the script of the endgame will be. Else if this come from an unknown writer, yes I agree the 2nd alternative here is the more plausible one.

I beg to differ, every production team is responsible to the works they did, so they also responsible if this kind of toxic message is spread within their drama. And no, I'm not being sarcastic because that's really the message I get by watching this drama. They never address what's wrong as wrong but choose to glorified & rewarded it instead.
If you think this drama deserves a 10 no matter how badly written with bad moral messages they spread, plot holes & inconsistencies in writing, then it's up to you but don't force other people to believe so. NDS growing? No he's degressed, his character development went backwards, his wealthiness is the only thing growing in him, I love him at the beginning of the series but despise him at the end of the series & many viewers share the same take, so there's that.

Exactly, that's why I really hope the production team receive enough backlash as much as they possibly get so they'll learn to not underestimate their viewers just to earn big bucks while sending this kind of message to the viewers.

On the other hand Bad deeds will give you good karma & all the love and luck in the world, getting praised & acknowledge by the people matters to you, don't bother to repent, you just need to make sure that you can manipulate them well.

Imo yes, ep 1 deserve a 10, ep 15&16 deserve a 1, bad moral message & the writer has some twisted mind, imho, it went downhill after ep 9 & fell to rockbottom when it ended, but feel free to watch & judge it yourself
I think the lines that I said is something like I'll be rewatching YDMC to cleanse my pallate from SU & I hv it downloaded already since I've predicted SU ending will be terrible, YDMC is 4 ep length drama with KSH as main ML, something like that.
