Title Hit the Spot
Less R-rated content that makes me squirm in my seat and more family-friendly entertainment please and thanks
Romance is the feelings of affection and emotional intimacy. It exists with or without a "sexual" component. "Sex" is purely physical. It doesn't necessarily involve romantic feelings. "Sex" and romance can go hand in hand, but they are not interchangeable or dependent on each other

Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and good decision-making define maturity, none of which have anything to do with what happens between the sheets

Total thumbs up! I'm always looking for k-series that feel more modern / relevant / progressive. This show is…
You believe that the more NSFW the content, the more "upgraded" it is. This liberal, modern obsession with on-screen hanky-panky is creepy and regressive

Let's hope we see less of these characters/storylines/topics going forward

Hi Anika. You stated previously that “because of one actor who thinks it’s disgusting to play a gay role they…
Even though the discomfort with playing a gay character is a symptom of societal homophobia, an actor or actress has a right to choose their roles

We are calling attention to the problem of an actor demanding a story to be changed to avoid playing a gay character, or producers censoring a gay storyline to cater to an actor or conservative audience

We don't know the specifics of Chan Young's situation, and we can't tell for sure that he was comfortable or uncomfortable playing a gay character

The legal system operates under the assumption that "adults" have the capacity for agency and autonomy. These concepts are societal constructs that vary across cultures and time periods. Achieving legal adulthood does not correlate with the emotional maturity or life experience needed for informed decision-making

Disapproving or questioning age gaps is not prejudiced or phobic. People have valid concerns about power imbalances, divergent life stages, and goals between partners. Partners at different stages of their lives have different values, goals, and needs. This makes it difficult to have a healthy relationship

Everyone has a right to their opinions and beliefs regarding age gaps. Demeaning them is prejudice

Appreciating or supporting gay stories isn't the same as reducing gay men to objects

My belief in the binary gender system is independent of my interest in BL

Why do you continue to argue with us? This is an unproductive use of your time

Sex are only 3 but genders are many
My identity is secure and well-defined. Accepting gender identities won't have any bearing on my self-perception or personal growth

Personal beliefs, experiences, and achievements are factors that contribute to our sense of self, and focusing heavily on gender identity will downplay the contribution of the other factors

Thank you for liking my version of the story! I find mother-son/mother-daughter/father-son/father-daughter reunions to be more emotionally impactful and heartwarming than "romance" stories

there might not be romance right now but I think there will be a development with the plot as the story goes on.…
Are you claiming that the actress lied? She said there's no "romance." That means there's no "romance"
On Wonderful World Mar 7, 2024
I'm dropping if there's "romance." The story would have been better if Seon Yul were Soo Hyun's son (Gun Woo) from a fictional parallel world. In his world, a tragic accident took his mother's life. He travels between parallel worlds and arrives in a world where his mother lost him at a young age. Changing his name and last name to remain under the radar and blend in, Seon Yul waits for the perfect moment to meet his mother and reveal his true identity. Then they are reunited. Seon Yul helps his mother heal from her grief. He gets a second chance to be with his mother, and his mother gets back the son she thought she had lost forever

Imagine the uproar if a straight story were adapted into a BL or GL. A story about the struggles of gay people, about homophobic bullying, suicide, and finding love in a hostile environment, is being straightwashed into a lackluster, "and they were just friends" adaptation. Our reaction should be anything but muted

I'm a real member of the community, hailing from a Muslim country. Being openly gay here is illegal and life-threatening. But I firmly believe that we should address and combat all forms of homophobia, even the seemingly "minor" forms like the removal of BL from adaptations

Our community facing more severe and urgent threats doesn't invalidate the harm caused by insidious, homophobic censorship. Allowing these media practices to persist reinforces the belief that our identities and experiences are lesser, or not worthy of representation. This is the belief that "gets GAY folks KILLED, throughout the WORLD"

I'm well aware of the existence of intersex people

Intersex variations aren't a 3rd sex. They are variations within the existing 2 sexes

The community doesn't have to agree on the number of genders. People within the community have different opinions

My personal belief system doesn't recognize gender identities outside of the binary. There are 2 sexes, and 2 genders

I'm a member of the community. I respectfully disagree with you or anyone who calls "BL/yaoi" a fetish

Fetishization entails sexual fixation on a non-sexual object, body part, or characteristic. The depiction of male-male, female-female physical intimacy is sexual. Something sexual can't be classified as fetishization, regardless of the gender of the consumer

The act of the opposite gender deriving pleasure from viewing male-male, female-female sexual activities is accused of fetishization. By extension, all people deriving pleasure from viewing a man and a woman engage in the same activities are guilty of fetishization. Consistency demands the censorship of all "straight" media. Western and non-Western countries that are worried about fetishization should start by tackling the biggest fish in the pond and censor "straight" media. There should be no "kiss" or "sex." Apparently, a sexless relationship is "more romantic and sensual"

Labeling sexual depictions of gay relationships as "fetishization" originates from a place of homophobic discomfort or aversion to non-straight physical expressions of intimacy. The misuse of the term shows an underlying bias. It's not a genuine understanding of fetishization

Attributing the (debatable) "change" in attitude of a person or a nation to a single censored TV series is an oversimplification. I don't know your mom. I can't say she's not homophobic

My Asian mom was open to watching a steamy MaxTul BL series. I don't share your experiences

The Western community accuses censored Chinese BL adaptations of "gay-baiting." Why do you listen to their accusations of "fetishization" and not their accusations of "gay-baiting?" Western opinions aren't always appropriate or relevant when evaluating Asian media. Form your opinions. Blindly accepting accusations of "fetishization" will limit your ability to enjoy the diversity of the gay entertainment available

Censored adaptations of BL works appease conservative audiences. The absence of physical intimacy creates a less realistic, compelling relationship. The homophobic majority would tolerate the minimal romantic, sensual elements present in censored adaptations, because they don't see them as real relationships

Censored BL adaptations become a hit. Guess what that means? Society has serious homophobia issues to work through

"Semantic Error" adaptation managed to capture the essence of the characters' relationship and chemistry. I could connect with it

I'll take my BL/yaoi raw, uncut, and unapologetic. The censored BLs aren't the same. Where's the passion? Where's the romance? Where's the sizzle? The low-budget gems that don't shy away from gay physical intimacy are the true art
