A drama is more than just outer appearances. Ancient love poetry is ones of my top favorite dramas of xukai. It's your choice if you decide it's not to your taste, but I think only watching 2 eps is to early to judge a show.

Zhou qiu hai is such a villain, imagine he was able to hide his true self for so long with none the wiser, even ding yunshan was fooled by him, his constant talk about loyalty to the pentasect, and his refusal to disband the pentasect after yunqi told him it was an order from the heaven official, and his reaction to the new made him a zealous old man. But it turns out to be all an act, also introducing wushuang to yunqi when he was just a kid was intentional, to foster their feeling for each other, he set it up so yunqi would marry wushuang when he became the heaven official just so he could get the treasures from Kunlun mountain. It must've been a blow knowing his careful planning was ruined because yunqi refuses to become a heaven official.

I'm not sure what you mean since I find him the most attractive here. Maybe you're not use to the hairstyle, I have seen him in so many different hairstyles, even the qing hairstyle and he still look good bald ^^

I'm not sure why you has that impression, fl might look small but she's not childlike once she gains responsibility, and xukai always look good no matter what styles he's wearing. He's gorgeous in all his costumes, also their chemistry I consider is one of the best compare to other fls he paired with.

It's happy ending. You should continue, it's a good drama but it does have some sad scenes.

The signal flares of the pentasect were really cool, yunqi used it to scare commander hu to show him the might of the pentasect, so the different colors represent each of the pentasect. Also the hand signal when they greeted each other is also a way to tell who's in pentasect. Cyz used it when she revealed herself to yunqi and later to sanxian. But it's also used as a form of respect when ding yunshan died. After my rewatch, I see more clearly fengling's change in personality has to do with the humiliation she suffered from commander hu as she told yunqi, her hatred towards those she consider her enemy due both to jiutian's death and her brother loss his position as the chief of police. Fengling started to see herself as the one who's responsible for her family well-being, as a result she started to crave power and position that she thought could only be given by her ladyship. I also see her feeling for yunqi, it was fengling that tell yunqi to break up with wushuang if he doesn't have feeling for her, not knowing yunqi real feeling for wushuang. She must've thought yunqi only see wushuang as a friend or sister, so imagine her surprise when she saw both of them gotten closer. Also appreciate how cyz, sanxian and sanjin are so loyal to yunqi, as well as wushuang, they're like family even though they're not related. Later Luo yunsong and yunqi start to call each other brothers as well ^^

The first 16 eps were just the beginning and not the main story. I do think the beginning were kind of slow pace, so I can see why some people might not like it. In term of xukai being called fat I also think it's came from some anti-fans, and they couldn't find anything else to nitpick so they picked on his weight, and calling the lead actress ugly etc. I was commenting on those small group of people who have nothing better to do with their time since it was those people that gave bad impression of the show when it first came out. However I do believe china has a problem with body image, they tend to focus too much on weight loss and that's why most actors and actresses are so skinny. It's not a good message for the younger generation.

You're missing out on a really good drama. Ancient love poetry is my top favorite drama. In term of the actress look she doesn't look like a 30 years old woman, she looks like a teenager even though she is in her 30s, while the ml is in his 20s but he also looks like a teenager. They both match very well. In term of the actresses xukai has paired with, lots of people have complained about some of them being too old for him. So it's kind of funny seeing you complain about zhou dong yu looking like a 14 years old since both of them in my opinion matches the best in term of how young looking they're. Also it's the standard for these women to look that thin otherwise they will get criticism for how they gain weight, I find it weird no one complaining about zhou dong yu looking so skinny but they went after xukai by calling him fat when the guy is over 6 feet, he's consider skinny in other countries, but in china they made it such a big deal about it, just ridiculous to me how they even find people who are malnourished attractive in anyway.

The star map I think it a way for him to get out of the headquarter. I also think they cut out the part about Kunlun mountain, but from the conversation between yunqi and the descendant of the ding family that were guarding the hq, I think the Kunlun mountain only appears every few months due to the tide, and to open the Kunlun mountain yunqi needs to use the soul pursuit orders, but since he chose to not open the Kunlun mountain since he didn't want those people who coveted the treasures inside from getting them, he gave the soul pursuit orders to his servant to keep them from falling into the wrong hand, and only keeps his to open the hq.

Probably due to seeing too many. I don't mind the cute role, but that could be I haven't seen too many such roles, I didn't mind yangzi's role in ashes of love, even though some people didn't like her character being cute and clueless. While I always love a badass female role, however the character can be both cute and badass, that will be better.

Do you mean baijue to shanggu? I recall he did confessed to her in the god realm when she confronted him with her own feeling.

Good to hear you finished it, it's a good drama with strong fl and ml. Another one with strong fl is story of yanxi palace, court lady, legend of fuyao ^^

That might be true, but I can't help but hope for it release one day. Xukai character design looks so cool in this one, it's a shame if we will never get to see it :(
