This drama has its own audience, it's a genre on its own so it might not be for everyone since everyone taste is different.

Probably because they don't do skin smoothing and actually show natural skin color, i like the makeup in this drama because they don't try to hide any imperfection and show the characters true beauty. This is how you know how good looking these people are especially when the production don't have to hide any imperfection on their faces ^^

Have not seen any drama of miles wei yet so this will be my first. I will be watching this drama for xukai ^^

Different character different acting style. That is how the character was describe he's a taoist monk who reject all pleasure of life till he met fl, so your description of this character is spot on he's bland and only comes alive when going demon hunting i suppose.

What do you consider as popular? In drama world a drama that is popular would be consider an idol drama with popular actor/actress so audience can ship. Xukai dramas have lots of controversy, either the actresses are older than him, they're not pretty enough or they have lots of haters take your pick. In fact many dramas criticisms were his costars and not himself, last year moonlit reunion a controversy came after moonlit reunion aired is it a coincidence or what. But whatever the case xukai has been targeted over the years because he's a popular actor, if not they wouldn't even care to try to damage his rep. As he gotten older his pick in dramas has change, many of his characters are more serious and less playful, for those who don't like this change, they can always find other dramas that are more to their liking. Just because a drama has popular actor and actress, it doesn't automatically become a hit, it also come down to luck, if the drama has good writer and director etc. Xukai is not chasing popularity so he is going at his own pace because he finally reach the age that he can slow down and not chasing levery drama came his way because he is finally able to pick projects he like. Many popular actresses and actors also have bad dramas or flop dramas, what matter are their fans support that made it look like their dramas are doing better even though it didn't have a good rating, So many unpopular dramas could be good and don't get as many views so don't judge it before you watch it.

You're right what is wrong with this production, they kept everything underwrap without reveal to us anything about this drama. I heard a may release so what is the hold up and why they haven't start promotion for this drama or release new materials like a trailer?

I see what you mean, i saw the trailer so the fl will have a big role to play not just the father and son as i originally thought. They were childhood sweetheart so expect there will be some romance even if it will not be the main focus.

Last year he took a long break and then came back shooting his latest drama, i'm wondering if he already has a project waiting for him. Is there any rumor drama that xukai will shoot next after he returns from his break?

I can understand you don't have to like every drama just because it has an actor you like. I'm fortunate that most of xukai dramas just click with me because i have a vary interest in different genre, my most favorite is wuxia and fantasy, i'm not big on romance but i still watch for when i will find a cp that will move me. I'm also older so i don't have a dislike for any of his pairing younger or older, i find he has more chemistry with older actresses actually or it could be because they're also good actresses that can generate chemistry with xukai and not dependent on him to create the chemistry by himself.
