I'm enjoying the writing in the last few eps, the plot is solid and fill in lots of details we didn't get in the early eps. Not sure what you're talking about, it feel like the production does care about ending the drama properly. The only thing i can say though is the leads screentimes are less but they were center stage for most of the drama so it's understandble why in the ending we finally gotten chracters pov from the other characters in the drama. Pity this drama doesn't have more eps to explore more of their backstory.

No it isn't. I like the last few eps, i can see the production care about the plot and wanting to fill in the plotholes and i appreciate a drama that care about its audience to give a proper story not just only for romance.

Ep 29 we finally got old madam's pov, she wasn't fool by qy and her friends trick, she knew it all along but still let qy into the xie's mansion to be their mascot. Is she cruel to her child and grandchild yes, to preserve the xie's family name she was willing to abandon her own child and give up her name. And now for the xie's family she's willing to give up her life, is it worth it. I can understand why the drama focus the last few eps on the xie's family because everything started from the old madam's decision, but in making such a decision she's also trap and can't get out and the son she raised became the product of her making. What a tragic turn of event so many lives were sacrifice in the name of the xie family and in the end she lost the most important person she wants to protect. Can it be call karma. I think anyone unlucky to marry into this family will go mad proof is the ones who are still alive did go mad. The only concubine that is lucky to escape is 3rd madam when she left the xie's family after her daughter was almost sold off as a concubine.

That look the actor who played xie shu gave to old madam is so creepy, this is the first time we see him gives such a look and it makes me think he has been holding it in all this time, and that is his real face and he has stop hiding behind the mask of devoted son and actually hated the old madam, even the new concubine was scare by that face.

1st madam whatever her fault, i kind of pity her. She truly loves 3rd sister like her own blood, she even willing to drink the medicine she made for her knowing it was lace with poison, she was willing to pay with her life for 3rd sister forgiveness. 3rd sister knowing about 1st madam's involvement in her mother's death has complete the revenge qy exact on 1st madam. It's fascinating these people done bad things but in their final hours they can't help but confess their crimes and want to come clean maybe it's a way to atone or to ease their suffering before death 🤔

Ep 28 is so good, i didn't expect that secret at all. Whatever anyone said about the last 5 eps don't believe it unless you watch it yourself. If i have listen i wouldn't know about this plot twist. Qy's mother background is not common at all. And now i can understand why such a secret could drive xie shu to turn against his own sworn brother and even deal with the woman he loves so cruelly. The old madam i was thinking she also has a secret she's hiding but i didn't expect that revelation. What a woman even if you don't like what she done about her own child but i can't help but admire her courage in dealing with the outer branches of the xie family, and she was able to hold the entire xie family together and made a small family into a prominent family through her own hand. Happy to see my questions are answer in this ep. Even without xukai in the ep, it still hold my interest that what i call good writing ^^

Bringing down 2nd madam will take a lot more than messing with the estate ledger, her aim was nanny rong all along. Even if 2nd madam was found guilty, it's her servant that will be blame and have to take the fall for her.

I also don't watch dramas for look alone. Zhouye is pretty, but i was talking about their outfits, the females outfits look nice but it could be because the colors don't stand out as much as the ml outfits that why i pay more attention to the ml outfits than the female outfits in this drama because he just command the room when he appear in different color outfits and they all look good on him. For example in moonlit reunion the fl outfits are pretty colorful and they demand attention, but the ml outfits are plain and it playing to his character of keeping a low profile but it's the opposite for this drama, the ml outfits are more eye catching than the females outfits and it could be intentional since qy has to keep a low profile to investigate the xie's family.

Yanrui is just a fake persona, he's playing a corrupt official at the beginning on order of the emperor to investigate and expose corruption. The disaster relief scam were done by many noble families not just the xie family alone. And you're right it's a network of corruption, and the head of the xie family is also his target.

Yes she has a purpose in building relationship with 1st sister. The xie estate was manage by 2nd madam, nanny rong was her servant so she set them both against each other so they would tell on each other.

Yes i heard about it recently and it's true. Glad he has free time to do the things he like. I'm also waiting for news of his next project but having a break is also important.

I watch to ep 27 and i don't get the hate this drama is receiving. For all the complaints about the later eps, i was prepare for the worst that the drama don't make any sense that it ended without resolving the conflict or it's open ended, but what it's giving is all the answers that we were looking for, everything that they're not showing in the earlier eps they're now showing in the later eps. It might not be the best writing out of cdrama land and some of the conflicts resolve too quickly for my liking, but it didn't crash and burn as some of the comments led me to believe. Still have 3 eps to go, i don't like to wait for eps so i watch slower and as a result i'm not rushing through the eps as i heard some people are doing, so i can appreciate it more. What i can say for sure is xukai slay his character in this drama, this might be the drama he has the most outfits and he look so good in all of them including the hair accessories, i heard this production ran out of money don't know if it's true, but what they did right is in the ml outfits he outshine everyone in this drama even the females, i usually focus on the females outfits in drama, but this time i could only focus on the ml outfits or maybe xukai just make them look good ^^

What was qy's father secret that he willing to kill the woman he love to protect it. According to commissioner hu, shenrun's father being accused of corruption was because of qy's father doing, but why would he betray his sworn brother is it because of this secret and how does 1st madam know about it. Qy's mother and shenrun's father both knew each other and i thought there was a connection between both the murder of qy's mother and sr's whole family, i'm not wrong after all both of them have a connection and that is qy's father.

I didn't notice there was anything wrong with his makeup in ep 27, in this drama i like that they don't use too much makeup on him, i like to see the actor own skin color rather than being bury in makeup. Xukai looks even better without much makeup on him.

I wonder what was the relationship between the founding lady and commissioner hu. He was willing to take all the blame and spare her from the king's punishment, could it be love but their roles are so minor the production forgot to explain their relationship 😅

Yes, and it made lots of sense, he is the one who decide on how the marriage will become, even in an arrange marriage they can still makes it work if they both put in the effort.

I thought ep 25 was rush, but i like ep 26, it explains many things that happens in ep 25 and we also found out a bit more about shenrun's father and why he was frame for corruption when he was fighting against corruption.

I'm glad ep 26 explains what happens in ep 25 and give more details about qy and sr plan with his brother and her friend. Love shenrun's speech very inspirational whether to the refugees that were gather by his brother and qy's friend or to the marquist's son. The marquist is a good man, he didn't betray his principle even when he was threatens by commisoner hu. We got a bit more exposition about shenrun's dad plan and why he was a threats to those corrupt officials in hengtang. Finally qy and sr can team up together to take down her father as themselves like their promise ^^
