It sort of felt like a cheap knock off of My demon. I was expecting more happy ending instead of open ending. The concept of killing bad guy out of court has been done in so many dramas namely "Lucifer". For those who haven't heard of this masterpiece, It's An American drama which is 100x better.
I watched it again after a year. It is an awesome family drama, without the angst and cunning that is so prevalent in other family dramas. It is so damn Funny especially the relationship between the Grandfather and his three sons

This Drama reminded me of many other recent dramas like A place in the sun, Father, I’ll Take Care of You, Money Flower, Itaewon Class, and Golden Empire. I can tell after watching this that they were all inspired by this it is such a great story. A long and bumpy revenge journey which really felt exciting to watch. The relationship between the siblings was great. I only resent the writer for Minwoo and Miju relationship that was a abomination. No sibling would ever continue loving a man like Minwoo. Let me remind you that from his childhood he made bad decisions like cheating, attempted murder, he transferred them to work camp where he was repeatedly tortured, he commited Arson by destroying the factory, Sabotage, Espionage, Multiple attempts at Destroying Gangmo, who is Miju brother, also in the end because of him cutting corner during construction a building collapses. In the end all he gets is a 2 year prison sentence and a happy life with Miju!!!!!!!!!! Poor Older brother Sungmo even got shot twice in the head, survived to destroy Minwoo father and died during surgery. We still didn't get to vent all the pent up emotion on the villains. What happened to the remaining cabal of villain who repeatedly kidnapped and tortured innocent people for profit, What happened to that spoilt half brother of FL, who murdered the president of construction company, framed Gangmo for it and together with Minwoo tried to kill him thrice in Jail.

FL's cousin (Wang Churan) could have chosen not to drink the poison instead escape. Qiu Shui wouldn't have been killed and she would have lived a nice life with Hu qing. I would have paid to see the Qiu sisters and Fl all with their kids having fun reminiscing the past. Sadly drama always have to end with few characters misfortunes. Oh and forgot to mention ML's Tongfang were amazing they actually for the first time showcased harmony in a harem. ML concubine only one that he had turned out to be evil ( might be a strong word) died to quickly, would have liked to see some exchange of arguments or repentance from her.

The series was good. I saw karma for each bad character except the mother-in-law. FL's stepmother or her father's main wife tortured Fl and her birth mother multiple times. The father was also STUPID and IGNORANT. She forced FL to marry and take the place of her daughter in her husband's family. Karma was her daughter was murdered and her unborn baby killed by a schemer just like how the main wife/stepmother schemed her whole life. Moreover, Concubine Qin of the ML harem was forced to be ML concubine by ML's Mother, and the ML mother killed her child because she didn't want the child to be the firstborn of her family, what a bullshit reason to kill her own grandchild. The ML who was also stupid never raised his voice to his mother, fighting wars all the time but couldn't care less about the women in his home. ML's first wife who at the time was pregnant together with her mother forced a maid to sleep with the ML by threatening her with her younger sister. She killed herself due to depression. Going back to concubine Qin, Ml found a bastard child of his brother, FL advocated for Qin to raise that child but fucked up ML gave it to his sister. I wish I had known all this before starting How I regret watching this!
It was a delight. I loved the ending and wished we could see more of that scene. I loved the way they bickered, and their romance was off the chart. The way the emperor treated his brother was something you never see in other dramas, where it's always them fighting for the throne.
Agree, I haven't yet seen any character as smart as FL.
Wei yinglo and minglan can't be compared. Yes they are both smart as hell, but there situation is different. Wei wanted to find out and punish the person who killer and raped her sister. For that reason her method were slightly different as it involved the imperial harem. Minglan wanted to find the reason for her mother's death and avenge her, she did and then like Wei they both find someone they like/respect so much that they also protect /avenge them. So they are both extremely intelligent and ruthless.
The amount of Sexual and Physical abuse was hard to watch. She was raped by the SML, her mother in law punished her as she was fooled by Fl sister they caned her and pured dog blood over her, SML and his wife (Fl sister) killed her unborn baby (the father of the baby was SML), forced marriage sex and again slapped and sex and then again attempted rape. The revenge was okay but could have been gruesome seeing how much suffering she endured.
WOW AMAZING, full of laughter, romance, detective, and the best part of it all is using modern scientific techniques to solve crimes in ancient period. I HOPE TO SEE SEASON 4 PLEASE!!
I would have liked to see more of their son and his teenage/adult interaction most probably with his siblings with a little mix of romance with his gf and how they navigate their palace life. Introduction of western themes by peng peng and maybe adding innovation not thought possible during that time.
