I'm not sure why the rating for this is so low because this is actually one of the better things on K telly right now. The juggling act is really good and there's a high level of consistency that's not always present in K dramas.
I find the comments in this platform quite entertaining and not at all toxic. It's particularly interesting to me that viewers of different stripes are now complaining of things that I had an inkling would happen after I watched the first episode and then dropped the show like a hot potato. It occurred to me almost immediately that this show was going to be more about romance than young tech entrepreneurs getting their big break. It was clear to me right from Day 1 that the love triangle with in its use of an identity switch was always going to be the main thing driving this narrative. Why else would the writer begin with a Cyrano type dilemma if the love triangle was never going to be the primary driver of the narrative?
I was going to revisit this drama once it was over because people whose opinions I respect seemed to like this one when I didn't. The introductory episode didn't impress me at all. But they too are now disenchanted because a writer that they respected hasn't been delivering with her usual flair.
It never occurred to me that Han Ji-pyeong was not the male lead especially when his arc dominated at least half the first episode. There was so much emphasis on his relationship with the central family of the story. That's why I'm really surprised that there's been so much controversy over who the male lead is.
The part that I'm curious about now is how the writer intends to bring closure to the protracted love triangle. I think an open ending is likely. I also think a Sense and Sensibility type scenario is possible. Or even a Cyrano one. If the writer intends to bookend the show with references to the letters.
I watched up til episode 5 but viki doesn't have translate everything they say. How did they find Zhan Yu's body?…
It's in explained at the end of Episode 14 that a body was found in around an area populated by high rise blocks. If memory serves (can't remember which episode sorry) his body was cut up and dumped into rubbish bins.
Now that I've watched 12 episodes of this I can safely say that if they are able to maintain the momentum and quality of this right to the end, this will not just be one of the best C dramas but one of the best dramas I've ever seen. The non-linear storytelling is handled so well.
The problem with C dramas is usually the middle or the third act. If they survive those pitfalls relatively unscathed, the potential for greatness is there.
6 episodes in I adore this show. The leads have good chemistry and interactions. LGX's character is such a delightful beast. He's charming, glib, witty and funny. Not exactly your typical male lead. I'm also enjoying the Citizen Kane approach to the storytelling.
It's not a terrible show but I did use the FF facility quite a bit.The show has these flashes of good ideas and…
But the thing that really annoys me is why she leaves him at the 11th hour. It's because she develops a disability -- not an unfamiliar device to maintain the push and pull to the bitter end. The messaging and the optics of that are just awful.
It's not a terrible show but I did use the FF facility quite a bit. The show has these flashes of good ideas and intentions but in order to stretch what should really be nothing more than a 16-20 episode drama to 39 episodes it goes off into tangents of nuttiness. There's really far too much silliness after a while which does the leads a huge disservice. I hate this type of finale where the female lead takes off to "find herself" half an hour before it ends then a time jump before they reunite. It reminds me of why I don't watch these romantic dramas very often. I have to concur that this show doesn't show up the female lead in very good light.
I don't think the romance is a big deal in this drama, that's why it just doesn't work. The romance is honestly…
Incorporating a romance between the leads just to increase Wen Bai's role in this seems to me highly unnecessary. It's practically redundant. Besides the chemistry between the supposedly romantic parties comes off rather more like something else.
I like it a lot.

But I've watched 17 episodes and it's a really good show. Genuinely intriguing.
