On The Love You Give Me May 18, 2023
There are things to like about this second chance romance. The cute precocious kid being one of them. It's certainly more grounded than something like Unforgettable Love and the more recent equivalent whose name escapes me. The leads are good. Wang Ziqi in particular as he does have a flair for the comedic. I don't even mind the supporting romances here.

However, 30 episodes is a stretch and it shows with the push and pull. I don't like the implication that the male lead has to get it completely right before there can be any hope for a long-term commitment and I certainly don't like that it's used quite mercilessly to give Zhou Ruji a reason to hope that he has a chance with Min Hui when he obviously doesn't. After 18 episodes, I am frustrated with the lead's dynamic.

Hard to believe that Ms Yao is more mature than the two older women.

Just wanted to say thank you for your review. I love this drama - it's fresh and poignant yet so humourous. Got…
It is a breath of fresh air. The humour lands well for me too.

He wasn't speaking Taiwanese. It was Mandarin. A good effort on his part.
No. Taiwanese is a Chinese dialect sometimes called Hokkien or Fujian named after the same province in China.

The way Yang Yu switched from Taiwanese to Thai and I knew it immediately….I’ve been watching too many dramas
He wasn't speaking Taiwanese. It was Mandarin. A good effort on his part.

Despite the show straddling in and out cartoon territory, I'm enjoying it. At least there's a decent plot, everyone's reasonably competent, good teamwork and interesting historical titbits. It's a good-natured romp all round.

Drama is fun but it is very inconsistent and illogical.in one episode, the ML is doing Olympic level acrobatics…
I noticed in Episode 7 that the female cop gets abducted by three guys without putting up much of a fight and then at the abandoned building she's holding her own.

I just finished the first 6 episodes. Does anyone find that the back and forth between present and the past hard…
Part 2 explains Part 1 quite well.

A superhero story revolved around antiquities. Love the call back to Healer and the fact that Skunk has his own Ahjumma backing him up.
This show is a hoot and I'm enjoying all the different historical references. Fascinating stuff.

Joo Won is terrific as always.

But the serial killing was a blind for another scam that NSC was pulling behind the scenes to get back to SK and his gold. The guy lies all the time.

Well, we don't know if he did go off scott free. Maybe he did. He's not a known entity to Detective Gu but he is known to some people in the "conspiracy".

But is that necessarily "wrong"? Isn't it the case that not everybody gets caught?

For me Joseph Chang's portrayal of a high functioning ASD individual was pretty good. One of the best IMO. I also liked Tiffany Hsu's reporter who actually turned out to be his contrast.

I don't think there was any change in direction. Part 2 only showed you what was really going on Part 1. The serial killings were just a blind for something else.

I suppose the show didn't meet your expectations but to me Part 2 is a very logical explanation of what Part 1 was really about.
