you mean the cancel of the engagement?
I suppose so. I can't see how Tutor Lou would approve.

I know many are excited to see this engagement end, but, of the three suitors, if CSS could have married LY and…
I think you're idealizing her life with A'Yao too much.
First of all him becoming an respectable official is rather unlikely. He's really a rather uninspiring character who can't even read the room. Compared to his far superior older brother, he's like a little lost puppy wandering from room to room. He doesn't even understand the implications of everything Ling Buyi has done for Niaoniao. I doubt in the long run an intelligent energetic woman like her will be happy with a dull lad like this. Right now he is no more than a glorified maid.

I think English subs on Viki are better than tencent. It’s easier to follow/understand. And the choice of words…
Always.

I think for now we squeezed everything we could from what was shown in these 6 eps. Now we need more info, so…
I think the wait is hard for a lot of people.
Not me though. :D

I think we can argue until the cows come home but "bland" like "beauty" is really in the eyes of the beholder. It's all pretty subjective as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it's age but I'm becoming more partial to the good-natured male leads. Moreover it isn't as if Jun-ho is written to be a nice guy for its own sake. He is written as someone who has the toolkit to interact with Young-woo on a deeper level. He has to be big hearted enough of a human being to even contemplate a relationship with her. Despite his flaw, he is a very special person in my eyes because of how naturally he interacts with Woo-young from the first day. Not everyone has the kind of patience and unbiased attitude that he has. That was certainly established from the first. Even Su-yeon who has known Woo-young from their uni days still got impatient with her.

As others and I have said, Jun-ho does need to learn to draw his boundaries with people and that's the other side of the "nice guy" coin. This is why those who care for special needs individuals often burn out quickly if they don't accept their limitations. To me, serving special needs people is a calling. It's a gift. It's like what we saw in Hospital Playlist where the surgeons were pulling long shifts and they were spending days on end living at the hospital because they took their calling seriously.

This is why I also think the writing for Jun-ho is actually quite nuanced and doesn't rely on the usual gimmicky route of conflict to draw character traits out. In a way it's also more reflective of what people are like in real life.

Notice when FL colleagues gives him drink and stuff, he doesn’t say no or decline. We know he doesn’t want…
How many of us have been given gifts that we didn't want but we took them out of politeness? Sometimes I've even given them to other people later because it would be a waste to throw them out.
The reason why I've accepted them is because I appreciate the thought behind the gift even if the gift itself has no intrinsic worth to me.

Oh another one that is really good is The Imperial Coroner. No heartbreak in that one, just a few cuties together…
Great show that one. One of my favourites.

Like everyone else I would certainly like to see a lot more of Jun-ho in the story but it feels to me that the drama is trying to do a round with the various characters in the drama in terms of how they relate to Young-woo. This show is about Attorney Woo so it follows that she should get the lion's share of the storytelling. Personally I don't need a backstory for Jun-ho if a backstory means that he has some kind of trauma. Every male lead these days has a childhood trauma and I'm a bit over it to be honest. What I wouldn't mind though is if he was able to clarify where he stands with Young-woo and Min-woo as things come to light and the relationship finds its rhythm.

My understanding of his predicament is that he likes her a lot but he also respects her as a professional lawyer. So far despite certain limitations, she's done a really good job fighting for her positions in and out of court. He clearly has nothing but admiration for her intelligence and courage. The fact of the matter is he's not her boyfriend. He doesn't know if he'll ever be. He hasn't even confessed so he might feel that he has no right to intervene on her behalf at any level which would undermine her confidence which was shot to pieces previously at the end of Episode 3. It's also possible that she might construe his feelings... as other people have already... as pity... when it's the opposite. Would other people think that it's just pity too because he's never been moved by any overtures made by other women in the office? That's why I think he couldn't send her the text message that time. It's paralysis by analysis.

I've also given his desk drawer at work a bit of thought and yes, I've come to the conclusion that he's not someone to rock the boat. It probably explains his popularity at work to a large extent. He is Mr Affable and takes everything in his stride. There are downsides to being Mr Nice Guy though. Often nice people don't like drawing lines. The reality is that sooner or later they will have to because large important issues are at stake.

You've been missing for years? I mean that's all we've been served for years now. What dramas are you watching?…
I didn't think Kim Seon-ho's character in HomeCha was that nice. He was nice to some people but he was really rude to the Shin Min-ah's character. The other guy was actually nice.
Anyway, I didn't particularly like that show.

Enjoyable blog post, thanks! Now, I have something to bounce off my thinky-thoughts...so much of this drama is…
The storytelling in this drama is top-notch. The show (as opposed to the tell) is really strong in this one.

I love re-watching because the subtle things leave a heavier impression every time
That's absolutely right. Every scene is layered with all kinds of nuances.
The script and direction for this show is just top-notch.

Even though I sensed early on that this was an addictive binge-worthy show, I kept watching because it gives me the opportunity to think and blog about the show as it unfolds. The six episodes a week deal is undoubtedly hard but it buys me time at least.
My latest essay on Episodes 17 and 18. As usual link under spoiler tags.

dream of splendor….
Me too. It's really nice to look at but I just couldn't get into it. Dropped it after 20 episodes. This is coming from a person who likes serious historical dramas and watches them routinely. It's almost if this show was a composite cut and paste of various different (IMO better) shows.
Apart from the leads the characters are not very interesting either.

Do you watch K dramas? Extraordinary Attorney Woo is pretty good.
I think it largely depends on what you go for. The last two rom coms I watched were subpar to me but a lot of people liked them. But I think SK makes really good slice-of-life dramas. The detective dramas have also been improving steadily over time. Popularity certainly doesn't equal quality. I also find that many of the hugely popular dramas aren't the ones that I end up liking.

There are a lot of trashy C dramas too. It's just that most of them go under the radar for most people. This year for some reason has been a rather good year for crime with things like Reset, Under the Skin, Day Breaker, Be Reborn, Ordinary Greatness.

Finally she gets rid of the kid this week and the real man can step in! Team LBY!
What a blessed relief that will be!
