I felt the same when I first started watching Love and Redemption. Her looks started to grow on me
I think you really DON'T know what you are talking about. You certainly assume too much, especially when you DON'T know me. Shame on you.
"XENOPHOBIC"? Do you even know what that means? Here is the definition: "suffering from xenophobia, a fear or hatred of strangers or foreigners." That has absolutely NOTHING to do with these comments, topics and conversations. You shouldn't just throw around words with the intent to insult, with some thinly veiled self righteousness.
I definitely would NOT have written so much, if the person I was responding to, actually read my previous comment(s), didn't twist my words and often change topics, and make me have to repeat or defend myself. I went over and explained pretty much everything, in my early comments. This whole situation could have ended a lot sooner....Believe me, I wish it HAD.

You are obviously very biased in your OPINION. This is NOT China or somewhere else where we have to be so heavily Censored. This is a FORUM where you Should be allowed to give your thoughts, opinions and feelings about ANY actress, actor, or drama/movie, positive or Negative.
I did NOT come here with "MALICIOUS intentions" as you say.
And yet again you did NOT understand or thoroughly read my comments or you enjoy TWISTING my words or "putting words in my mouth", out of context or that I did NOT say at ALL.
When did I say that you didn't think she was attractive? I obviously knew that you thought she WAS physically attractive. You made that perfectly clear.
And where did the "whole character of the work" come from? Your previous comment, (Out of nowhere) started talking about her character in this drama and her history, when it had really nothing to do with our topic of conversation. It frankly, was a little strange and confusing. That is why I asked why you did it.
Also, YOU were INSULTING beautiful or very attractive women as all being fake or that most (if not all) of them had plastic surgery. Like I previously said : "I find it sad that you think that someone who is quite physically attractive, CANNOT be "natural", or must have had "plastic surgery ". That is pretty sad and some what Insulting. There are Pretty actresses that are Natural and are good at acting. And are you implying that most "natural" women are Not very physically attractive or have perhaps not the most attractive features? I understand that most people definitely have physical imperfections, 'here and there'".
"I rather watch a good and likable actress who may not be "really pretty", (to me) rather than a beautiful girl who is unlikable and not very good in acting." Yuan Bingyan may become one of those actresses to me, I don't know yet. Just like I implied in my VERY FIRST COMMENT: "maybe I will like her acting more.."
Anyway, I think we all know that physical attractiveness can greatly be influenced by culture and our family's appearance, and be quite SUBJECTIVE as well.
Gosh. This whole thing got way out of hand. I hope everyone is done talking to me about this.
I felt the same when I first started watching Love and Redemption. Her looks started to grow on me
What?? Why are you talking about the character? I haven't started watching this drama yet... Okay, I guess that's good to know...
(Not to be rude, just to clarify, but the actress is a "she" or "her", Not a "He," "him", or "His". If you are using something to translate Chinese into English, it often switches the two, and it can be confusing).
I find it sad that you think that someone who is quite physically attractive, CANNOT be "natural", or must have had "plastic surgery ". That is pretty sad and some what INSULTING. I understand that most people definitely have physical imperfections, "here and there".
I know that many find Yuan Bingyan attractive, or like her acting and that influences their opinion of her "attractiveness". I also heard that quite a bit of people also don't find her very physically attractive as well.
We may not like to admit it, but shows and actors are a part of a business or even a "product". It does depend on how well they can attract, "sell" and convince the audience.
Goodness, I don't like how this turned. I wasn't here to attack Yuan Bingyan, or to make things based ONLY on looks but to give my honest opinion, and how it has somewhat affected my INITIAL desire or interest, (or lack thereof) in watching some of her shows...
I rather watch a good and likable actress who may not be "really pretty", (in my opinion) rather than a beautiful girl who is unlikable and not very good in acting.

Oh goodness. It seems like you really didn't read my previous comments and decided to "Put words in my mouth ". What did I say for you to imply that I meant that actors needed to be "exaggerated" in their acting? Nothing I said implies that. I even specifically said that the acting should be "realistic"...
You really must not have read my comments, since I basically already went over most of what you just said. Sigh...๐ช Also, from the VERY beginning, in my first comment, I was talking about what I PERSONALLY thought about her APPEARANCE and physical attractiveness. Did I downplay her acting? I haven't seen much from her in that regard, so I DIDN'T judge it in my comment(s).... Being (possibly) a good actress, had almost nothing to do with my original comment/topic.
"Toxic" and "bully", huh? Belief in and following God, is NOT toxic.People need to remember that they are responsible…
A person can love a friend or as a brother etc, and be willing to sacrifice and even die for that person; but that DOESN'T mean that they are gay.
I am excited and waiting to watch this drama, but if they were kissing or doing sexual or other perverse things/behaviors; I certainly wouldn't want to watch it. Our society is certainly degenerating and degrading itself, Not "progressing" in a good and healthy way or direction in this regard.
HopefullyโคTcent should release WIK with other double MLs dramas sometimes Safe & soon. So, in this way it will…

People need to remember that they are responsible for how they interact and treat others. It is a personal choice.
Also, just because society & media are trying to shove down our throats, and trying to force us to "accept", believe, and welcome with open arms, a certain way of thinking/living/sexual behavior/sining, does NOT make it "right"; NOR does it mean those who believe in God (& try to live accordingly), TOXIC or "bullies" either. ๐๐

I agree with you that some Hollywood actors & actresses are not very physically attractive.
And of course, ACTING, and having the actor's belief and portraying sincerely their characters' feelings & intentions/modivations realistically, is the MOST important.
Also, an actor or actress's likability, charm or charisma, (as their character) can go a long way in making them become more attractive, then perhaps they may physically be.

I didn't say that they Had to be physically attractive to be a good actor or actress, but it really does HELP to draw in viewers and more interest while watching the show and being more "appealing" to them. Also, it can help in believability, if the character is supposed to be very beautiful or very handsome, and they are Not; it can be difficult to sometimes watch romantic scenes (depends), or to take the show or other actor's words/actions seriously.
On the other hand, being physically attractive isn't enough either to make a drama good or to maintain interest only by itself.
They changed the main cast!?!? And Shin Se Kyung as Tanya!?? Please tell me they are joking.๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ก๐ญ
