I find it strange that such a good and popular series in china have so few comments here.
Romance dramas tend to do better on MDL and are more popular with international audiences. This one is not romance although it does have a bit of romance between the two male leads and their own CP. Lucky for me, I tire easily of romantic dramas and decided to look for something different. I'm very happy I found strange tales back in 2022 π
I saw your earlier comments that this season didn't hit as hard and you were not impressed but hehe glad to find…
Hehe I'm the opposite! I think he got a lot of good character development compared to his brash and impulsive self from S1. But there are multiple instances where he reverts back to his S1 self and that irks me too π‘
Just an FYI, this one gets so much better as it progresses. I was pretty bored with the first case, but the second…

Didn't watch When Life Gives You Tangerines but I saw clips on Tik Tok and that show looked so good π² I'm very happy Strange Tales won! Congrats to the team and lmao--Yang Xuwen and Yang Zhigang looked so shocked π
S3 was not as good as S1 & S2, but does that make it a bad season? No. I think after the success of S2, people…
"When we disagree on the details, it means we care about this series. π€" - same!
I think filming S3 right after S2 finished meant they had to rush and as a result, the cases suffered. For S5, I doubt we will see anything until 2027. That said, let them take their time with the script bc I know they'll deliver.

I went back to read my response and whoah, I came off a lil too strong. Apologies for that π₯² The short sentences made me come across as curt and rude. Your assessment is fair. In particular, I feel like case 3 barely had any analysis with the way everything basically unraveled itself. We did get a lot more romantic interactions between the lead pairings, but I don't mind it. I like it actually bc LLF and SWM seemed indifferent to their partners in the previous season and this season they have a softer side (besides the obvious spinning around slow mo scene) Different strokes for different folks, I guess. For the fight scenes, we always get epic fight scenes each season so I didn't feel like we got more. It felt less to me actually.
The rating on douban has gone down to 8.0 https://movie.douban.com/subject/36318037/It's disappointing but as…
S3 was not as good as S1 & S2, but does that make it a bad season? No. I think after the success of S2, people were expecting amazing over the top cases but that didn't happen in S3. And I don't agree with the sentiment that douban ratings reflect the quality of S3. There are many shows that are deserving and not deserving of their ratings. Ofc everyone has their own opinions but I think folks should make the decision themselves instead of being influenced by ratings
I'm actually impressed this series continues to deliver consistent production quality and solid scriptwriting after three seasons. I was one of the people on this thread that was a bit unhappy with the season up until case #4, and sure the rhythm and focus this season was different, but they didn't do less detective work. I realized the cases just felt more normal compared to previous seasons :) and the extra focus on court politics. But following the history of the show, the eventual showdown between nephew and aunt is inevitable.
I just saw the bts of the scene when LLF had Xijun in his lap and the scene when he saved her and the bts is so…
Haha yeah π but the bts is not cringey like how it came but in the drama. I almost didn't watch it bc I thought the scene was badly filmed. But it was so sweet! They removed a line from the bts that should have appeared in the drama (when he princess carried her and Xue Huan came in, you could see he said something to her in the back). Wish I could share the clip here! They were leaning on each other in the bts when viewing the clip on camera and it was so cute.
