Reading about the actual woman, her story would've made for a very good drama but it unfortunately wasn't to be with the way Mainland China produce dramas. Reminds me of Weiyoung the book vs the C-drama - night and day differences!
Wonder if another East Asian country could tell her story without shoehorning an invented romance in there? There's almost always got to be a love triangle or even reverse harem in these dramas ...

Ep 9 unfortunately had the ML blackmailing the FL with imprisonment and death of her entire clan if she didn't marry him. She couldn't even bid her family goodbye.
Turned me right off him!
