Review Bon Appetit, Your Majesty Spoiler
Your review is very accurate because we don't know why she has the scar from the ,was she involved in an accident…
Exactly! It showed her soul returning it seemed like but then how did she travel back in time with just a soul? How long was she in the hospital? For what reason? And then if the king traveled to the future how would he have any amount of money or fit into modern times easily? Theres no way he would have understood phones, cable, internet, etc to find her or even afford an expensive suit. But you are right in him not recognizing his friend, he was heartbroken when he died in the past

My other complaint is about FL since like the plot, she is all over the place... I understand that she felt she…
I completely agree! If you haven't seen Are You The One then I would recommend that one. It is still a costume drama with romance but a much better plot and chemistry. It also has the same male lead. I was pleasantly surprised by that one.

This is the first time in a long time that I read a long review from beginning to end. I am currently watching…
They never explain her past life so if that is what you are waiting for then you'll be just as disappointed as me. They don't ever show why she ends up in the frontier, how the two meet, how they originally fall in love, why they are separated, and so on. The plot in this literally just moves from one ridiculous villain to the next just to allow the female lead to 'overcome' the obstacles.

finally! I could not get passed the sibling vibes in this one and dropped it because I knew what the narrative was going to do but just could not bring myself to like them as a couple because they clearly were more siblings

Este drama pode dividir opiniões, mas para quem presta atenção, muitas das "lacunas" na trama são, na verdade,…
I appreciate your insight into these points. I just wish the drama had chosen to expand on them instead of just mention them. Maybe the run time was the issue. I agree that this is fun to watch for the two main leads and their riveting chemistry. I just wish the villain here would have been done better.

I can respect your view of the drama and how much you liked it without having to agree with you. And yes I did…
I appreciate your comment and insight. I also understand the points you made about the plot but just felt like it could have been more impactful if they had shown the audience the reasons instead of told us. For example while he pretended to be lame to avoid palace struggles there had to be a first situation that triggered that for him. Seeing the beginning point would add so much depth and reasoning to the character and his actions and even make his standing up in order to save her even more of a grand gesture.

Each of the points you made are reasonable and easily understood, I just felt like it could have been so much more. Maybe the run time hindered that a bit. Still, it has become a drama that is able to create a conversation between differing viewpoints so I appreciate it for that.

Review Destiny of Love Spoiler
Ah, então o drama é "tão ruim que você assistiu até o fim"? Interessante. Parece que mesmo com "cola velha…
I can respect your view of the drama and how much you liked it without having to agree with you. And yes I did complete this drama for the reasons I stated above where some of the characters are fun and entertaining.

But just having a couple fun characters does not make a drama good. As you said, the wigs are in deed horrible which for a historical drama is a big deal and there are ways to hide bad wigs, I just don't think this production did a good job of that. I also think a comedy can also carry a purpose otherwise what is the point of the story? Here the plot is lost in the incredibly weak minded antagonist with the sole obsessive goal of just stealing a girl. It lacks buildup in any of the relationships and settles for superficial comedy to carry the drama.

The viewer is never shown why Prince Jing's mother abandons him, why he has no interest in the throne, why he first decides to pretend to be unable to walk, why the Noble Consort is so desperate for power, why the Emperor puts up with her acts, why the second Prince is constantly targeting his brother that clearly shows no interest in the throne. You aren't given an understanding of the relationship between Kingdoms and why the Xiling Princess marriage is so important, even the cloud design hunt that keeps ManMan in the palace is completely dropped with no explanation as to where the design came from or why the Noble Consort claimed to design it. You aren't even given a glimpse into how the Second Prince ended up being so incompetent and selfish when he appears to have had similar teachings. Any number of these answers would have added depth to this story that is just surface level from beginning to end.

If watching a drama where you can turn of your brain and just enjoy the unrealistic silliness then I definitely agree that this could be the drama for you. But personally I like dramas to have solid engaging plots, multifaceted villains that are not just there to be the villain, and consistent smooth transitioning between scenes.

I usually don't look up reviews because they tend to be....unhelpful in objectively determining actual show quality…
I'm so glad it has been useful and saved you precious time that you can invest in better options

This hilariously accurate review feels like it came straight from my brain to my screen through you. 100% agree. Would also like to add there had to be some kind of crack in that first episode or something cause no matter the crinkled brow, head scratching nonsense I just kept watching cause the spice was spicing.

Wow! I am embarrassed. this is a great review, and I have to say you were right on the money. I am embarrassed…
Thank you for the compliment!

Rating based on your enjoyment is not something to be embarrassed about. I often rate on my feelings as well if I enjoy something enough to overlook the flaws. I was also very invested in the male lead which is why I finished the series

i am really desperate for season2 because after everything they have been through they do deserve happy ending
My bet is that they'll do a wrap up in either a short special or another extra episode. I want to see a happy ending as well!

Finally! A review that isn't blinded by just the NC scenes. Those short scenes do not make a drama nor does it define an actors ability. I agree with your review and find it refreshing to see someone else that can provide a well thought out analysis.

your review is the best part of the series for me. Such an entertaining read and pretty on point with my own sentiments.

this felt like the most accurate review of this series I have read while scrolling through the endless all 10 reviews. I tried so hard to get through this show but found that I just could not like the majority of the characters. Ga On is obnoxious all of the time and has no true loyalty, he just flip flops every other episode. The niece is unnecessarily bratty. The cop is the typical obsessed cop with a preconceived idea and does everything in her power to prove that idea instead of actually seeing what the evidence is showing her. The rich are flamboyantly horrible and unrealistically in positions of power. The main antagonist's acting truly bothers me. Ugh just so much. Thanks for writing a review that verbalizes my frustrations better

I can't think of very many dramas that made me as viscerally embarrassed as this one did. It is impossible to like the two main leads for the sheer amount of cringe and disgust they give off. There are villains in other shows that I could tolerate far more than Toh. Do yourself a favor and do not finish this.

Review Love Alarm
I feel like this review has the same energy of more experienced kdrama watchers that go back and watch their first shows again just to realize how bad they actually were. A few can be put in this category such as Meteor Garden/Boys over Flowers, Descendents of the Sun, Falling into your Smile, etc. The very popular dramas that often attract watchers for the first time but then on a rewatch after having seen many more you are able to really notice the flaws that seem so glaring now but on your first watch you really enjoyed it.

Enjoyment for dramas is also highly based on when you watch them. As in if you have seen others to compare it to, where in your life you are, your age, etc. So many factors go in to it and ones you may have loved before might not hold true now as your taste may have changed.

Does that make this drama good? No it does not. But for a beginner this is an easily digestible one. The dialogue is slow and not too much so people adjusting to subtitles can easily keep up. The characters are fairly one dimensional. The plot is simple. The movement is not hard to understand nor is it too slow or arduous making it a slog to get through.
MimiTheReaper Mar 1, 2025
I actually like and agree with the majority of your points. And this episode is on par with the series where they never have a thought out plan or they are half baked. This show in a lot of ways is more conceptual in its enjoyment. Like you can enjoy it by overlooking the sheer stupidity because of the chemistry or you can see what they were trying to do so you go blind to the way in which it was actually done. It makes it hard for me to rate it to be honest. Did i sit through the whole thing? Yes. Did I enjoy it? I think so. Did it make me cry? Yes. Was it done well? No. Will that change the fact that I adore Yin and War? Nope.

Now to talk about the wedding scene. Goodness. I watched that through my hands. I can both appreciate and dislike it at the same time. See grief is a funny thing. It manifests in everyone differently. If this odd wedding is what Jack needed to hold himself together then I can see the people he loves supporting him through that. Sometimes letting them be crazy for their own sake is better than trying to force reality onto them and then ending up losing them both. We have to consider that the wedding took place only days later. I actually find this ridiculous wedding a bit more believable than the way the show ignored any of the 'injuries' they received. I mean Aran was stabbed, Jack's leg was hurt badly, and they were all hurt to the point of being unable to get up but days later there are no bruises, limping, or bandages.

I agree with a lot of your review. Mostly came here to say that I hate that this drama came out at the beginning of your BL journey as it is so far below par that its painful. You won't find very many darker themed BL stories, let alone ones thas have a coherent plot within those themes. I'd recommend you check out Jack and Joker: U Steal My Heart as it seems to be in your wheelhouse. Joke is a thief and Jack is debt collector. The series is still pretty fluffy and not without its flaws but you should enjoy it for the chemistry of the leads.

If you like red flag men then check out My Stand In.

If you are okay with fantasy and censored BL then I would highly recommend The Untamed and The Spirealm. Both have great story telling and implied romance without the actual romance.

Just hoping to keep your interest in BL alive and provide some new absolutely addictive series to submerse yourself in. Happy watching!

You won't find a better plot, a better series for those actors, because there are no good writers who work in…
I agree and disagree. As for the plot you are right that when it comes to BL in general that it is hard to find solid strong characters that are competent at being 'bad'. Writers seem to have a very hard time creating storylines that make sense. I mean a lot of the mistakes of this drama are things that seem so easy to correct if they had bothered to pay attention to it. Simple things like maintaining their cover while on a mission or covering their tracks by using gloves or masks. They also should have trained them better in how to handle fire arms because even the way they do that was awkward.

As for the actors I think they are miscast in these roles. None of these actors have the kind of gruffness or strength needed to really pull these characters off. As an example I think Tay and New as Fadel and Style would have been more convincing. Tay has that quality about him where being cold and indifferent seems natural while Joong does not. And as pretty as Dunk is, his portrayal of Style was one dimensional and lacking.

This review literally made me giggle in my seat. I have not seen this and after what was When the Phone Rings I decided to wait out new releases to see reviews first and I am definitely not interested in this one. Thanks for the entertainment and warning. I'm sure this review is far better than what that show would offer me.
