Really hope they do another drama together. This was a nice drama, but need something more for Yanxi afterlife. I know this is set before Yanxi time period but still had higher exceptions for their reunion. Still liked watching the drama.

Finally Yue Hua is in jail in episode 38 preview, hope she finally gets what she deserves. Bit skeptical since she has 9 lives.

Completely agree. It started with that vibe like when he warmed up her hands etc. they set it up and then it went flat at some point.

I think additionally Zi Jin was trained to be Empress, her role here has to be restrained and not as passionate. If you think of Yanxi Empress she didn't show any passion towards the emperor even though they supposedly loved each other.

I think they are doing a good job doing what the script asked them to do. Those hugs remind my of old Chinese historical dramas. Wish we have another drama with them together in a more romance focused drama.

Wish they had released in 2 parts. That way they wouldn't have had to cut down the episodes.

This happens with nearly all dramas on mdl even after only episode has aired. Not sure why some people are so quick to rate a drama.

So ready for this drama, hope it will air soon!

Hope they show us more of the backstory between FL and SML, obviously I am shipping the leads. But wonder how SML knew to play that tune that was comforting to her and the comment he made about missing home.

I know some are frustrated with Zi Jin and Zhan Ji not hooking up so quickly, I am actually ok with it, its not that type of drama. The characters make sense. Zi Jin loves ML but she also loves and respects herself more than she loves him. Which I am all for. She has certain standards and after all she has been through, losing her mother, being essentially imprisoned and then bullied into marry ML after she had found a career that she loved. She seemed to have suffered a bit during the training she has with her mother, so sad seeing her having that flashback when she was stopping herself from crying. I don't see why she would jump on ML, best for her to have a new goal in life - which is saving lives of people who do not have to die than just rely on ML's love, which means having some sort of position. As love from Emperor doesn't get you far, all those prior concubines loved by past emperors died.

I don't like her. Her disregard for human life makes me dislike. She is quick to want to bury concubines.

True, that probably cuts some sweet moments of them together too. Wish they could have let dramas filmed before the regulation air all the episodes.

This follows most palace drama scripts. The FL usually plays hard to get to completely capture said Emperor's heart.
Empress Dowager has essentially declared war in episode 29 and tricked ZZJ into saying FL is ordinary and wants to put her in her "place"
She has a mission to stop all those countless deaths that are avoidable and its personal since her mother's death could have been avoided too. FL states in that episode something along the lines of "its ok she starts from nothing it's going to be long journey but she will not give up" So she is playing the long game of getting him and in turn having power to make those changes.

I think its because she got Concubine Guo pardoned, that's going against Empress wishes who wanted her to be killed.

I too believe she didn't kill the Emperor. Empress is trying to pass it off as she meant to kill me but Emperor drank it instead. I still don't believe Concubine Guo would poison her so openly.
I think they would have made their marriage official if YYF hadn't told his man to deliver that message at that hour. YYF looked so sad before he was handed the letter, I bet in a cut scene he had just seen ZZJ go to her room or something and was happy to have them be interrupted. Now emperor is dead I wonder if there is a mourning period and will have to wait a while.

ZZJ is probably upset in the preview because the mourning period is over and she was already fast asleep with one of the concubines not caring that he might come over. (just speculating, thought of this point as I was responding lol.... we will see on Monday)
