He wrote her off and is more concerned with carrying out is grandfather wishes for the country, he doesn't think about her like that anymore. His mother wants grandkids and all but those things are not top of priority for him right now. I think to some extent he tried to reconcile with his wife since when she punished Zi Jin in that episode she said she had won. But its probably too late for them to properly reconcile. He was actually going to get FL out of the palace by helping her get married and carry on with his duty.
Describing him as broody seems to narrow what he actually is like. In the cases he is sad, it's understandable for him to be sad. Not sure how he is supposed to match his heart in those instances?

It is called being human, not sure how you want him to react after the way his wife treated him its pretty heartbreaking. When his father is reversing stuff his grandfather did to help the country you want him to smile? With Yao Zijin, this last episode he really showed his love and maturity, within his misunderstanding he loves and respects Yao Zijin so much he was willing to help her to get married to his friend, the person he thought she loved. Most crown prince's don't do that, they are in a position of power and just take what they want. I really like his character he is a very supportive grandson, brother, son always helped his father out of problems and helped his mother. Level headed and calm. One of the best Crown Princes.

I don't think things were good with her step-mother too. Then Zi Ping tried to kill FL and tried to set FL up by trying to sow some seed of doubt early on about FL's identity to Yue Hua. YH tried to protect reported case to her Mother, which in a way would protect the Food Office if someone ever found out at least she would not be in shock. All of a sudden Yue Hua was perceived the bad guy. Not even being able to get close to FL coz Zi Ping was always there. I think she felt all alone and no one to turn to, she didn't feel liked yet she had done nothing wrong really at this point. Then she got some sort of comfort being used by SML, because at least someone wanted her in some weird way. They are both damaged people so they naturally gravitate to each other. So she was actually good and perceived bad before she was actually bad, then she turned bad.

I think this is an exceptionally different drama with plot twists, enjoying it more than the Long Ballad. I think MDL has kind of huge fanbases for some actors and actress. Wu Jin Yan does not have a huge fanbase here. Some dramas here are rated high just because of who the actor /actress are not just on the story/plot.
