I don't think you will find anything in the drama about that (episode #8) because after meeting his friends he was driving back home and calling her at the same time. I think they cut short he & his friends' conversation.

It's very normal that actors/actresses do that. It depends on the projects. Sometimes they play main leads or vise versa. Only a very few play main leads all the times.
