Episode 9 yessssss! What an episode. π Okay what I loved? First, that Joe is not letting Ming off the hook easily. I can see that Ming loves Joe, I can see he is also trying hard to get Joe to forgive him, but I love that Joe isn't giving in easily and not letting Ming push him around. Joe has every right not to forgive him, so Ming has to learn some patience and some grace if he is ever to succeed in securing a healthy relationship between the two of them. Based on the preview for next week's episode it looks like Ming is championing Joe's needs in front of his own, and I'm loving that shift. We know Joe is a healthy and loving partner when it comes to relationships, Joe needs to see that potential from Ming too so that he can make the decision on if Ming is right for him or not. Of course it's not ideal that Joe still has his contract with Ming, but it appears we may have a shift to a more caring, and less possessive (in a negative way) Ming, I hope. I'm all for Joe chosing Ming if both men can have a healthy relationship and Joe is a treasured half of the relationship too, as he should be.
Re Sol, I absolutely love him, though he was a little bit much this episode. I totally get him protecting Joe, but trying to "claim" him so publicly in the press conference, though he did it out of pride for Joe, it is similar in how Ming takes choices away from Joe too, and that is never going to work. Though I understand Sol's need to protect Joe, he has to realise that Joe also has a right to be fully informed about everything too. If anything, what this series has shown us is just how important it is to respect and care for ourselves too. Not just to do what others want of us.
Re Tong, that "man" deserves to receive no grace whatsoever. Omg that man needs to be piffed off a cliff and just to disappear. I think he is one of the most hated character's in any series I have watched, which shows just how well the character is written and played by the actor. But boy, I can't wait to see Tong get some crap dished out to him, it can't come soon enough!!! Go after Tong Ming, I know you have the chops for it! π
Ohhhhh this is going to be a LONG week until the next episode airs! The preview for it looks SO GOOD. ππ
So I have been watching the past eps in preparation for the next episode to air later today in Australia and what did I notice?! π So I knew Joe had sneezed the first time they had sex based on Ming's comment, but now I can see he does it too in subsequent sex scenes (or you hear him sneeze as it goes off scene) and as we just had that scene with Ming taking note of Joe sneezing while having sex in Joe's new body I have now noticed all the previous times lmao. Such a clever plot point. ππ
Heβs the biggest supporter for their relationship, heβs the only one , except Wut and Sol, who knows that…
Ohhhh I'm so excited to get to this part, and it looks like it will be from this episode later today onwards yay. Mike sounds like an awesome character and I can't wait to see what they have planned for Tong. π I've been literally counting down the days (and now today the hours) until the next episode and rewatching all the psst eps in preparation - bring it on! π
in the book mike is mings only family that accepts their relationship he helps them out big time during mings…
Oh yay! Thank you for that! I did notice that Ming's brother picked up straight away that Joe didn't appear to be a gold digger like he was expecting, and I did find that promising. Thank you, I look forward to seeing how it will all play out.
Book readers, can you please explain one thing to me please? I don't mind being spoiled on a plot point in regards to this either. But I have noticed comments here that posters love Ming's brother - is he actually a good character? Can someone explain his role in this story to me please? thank you. π
So I'm absolutely loving this series right now that I've got episodes playing on repeat while I do my computer work. One thing I love is Sol's song that he sings for his music video has become his and Joe's "love theme" during their scenes together. It is such a beautiful song and was so moving to listen to it while Sol was hugging Joe in happiness after meeting Joe's Mum. Though I can't wait to see Ming and Joe's story develop further as Ming learns Joe is actually his Joe, I do still love the Joe and Sol scenes. I would go out with Sol in a heartbeat. β€οΈ
Sol and Wut just suspects that Joe 2.0 is somehow connected to their olf friend Joe 1.0 so they went to a place…
Thank you! oh yay I'm glad. I just don't want any more trouble for Joe, our boy has gone though enough. I don't want him to have to deal with hate. β€οΈ
I have a question for the book readers who know the full story start to finish pretty please. I have one question that I don't want to wait until next week to find out as the not knowing is giving me some anxiety haha! I see that Sol now suspects or believes that Joe was the man he tried to catch "breaking in" at Joe's house. Does that mean he will think Joe is bad and it will cause some trouble for Joe, or does he, like Ming, suspect he is the Joe they know and love too?!
Wow, the title of this series could not be more apt. The ironic thing is, Joe believes he is Tong's stand in once again, but in fact, like the title of the series states, he is now his OWN stand in because Ming misses Joe so much. This series, and title, is so cleverly written. π
The one scene I have been REALLY looking forward to is also coming based on the preview for next ep. Ming will finally realise that it was NEVER Tong he fell in love with at first sight, but actually Joe. Will he at the same time also realise that both Joe's are one and the same person too? I have to believe so. The trailer does show Ming hugging Joe from behind and crying as Joe films Tong's fight scenes, and obviously Joe will still move with the same agility and grace no matter what body he is in. His moves as he performs Tong's stunts will be identical. So piecing this preview and scenes from the trailer together it does feel like Ming might figure things out quick smart though the next few eps. To be honest, I hope Ming figures it out quickly though, as I want Ming to enter his grovel stage and for Joe to make him sweat finally. Ming needs to work for his forgiveness and I don't want see our beautiful Joe being used for any longer than we need to. Therefore, my guess is, we may see the whole episide showing Ming using Joe as Joe's own stand in, but maybe by the end of the ep it will show all the pieces finally clicking into place for Ming and he realises. Then, ladies and gentleman, it will be grovel time and I can't absolutely WAIT to see the tables turned and for Ming to now be the one begging Joe for forgiveness, yesssssss. πππ
And lastly, as for Tong, I need that man HUMILIATED, VANISHED, or even better yet, DEAD. he needs to be YEETED into the next universe quick smart. Tong absolutely makes my blood boil. Props to the actor though for the playing the role so well lol, but omg could his character be more toxic?!
Regarding the preview for the next episode, oh it is SO GOOD!!! I also loved how it showed Joe apologising to the Joe whose body his soul now resides in. I loved how Joe is apologising for using his body in this way with Ming, in order to save "our" Mum. Oh my heart. π₯°π₯Ή
The 11 steps of the 'My Stand-In' roller coaster: 1. I hate Tong with every fiber of my being2. That fight scene…
Your 11. point made me chuckle. π On my comment I said that I hope Tong falls into the firery depths of a volcano experiences an excruciating death, and then gets stuck in a time loop for infinity experiencing his death over and over again. That man makes my blood boil!
I think this adaption does an amazing job of helping us understand (well, as best as we can) Ming's motivations…
I agree with everything you say! including that last scene at Joe's house where Joe could see he was continuing to make Joe a meal even years after he had disappeared. These actions show just how much Ming loves Joe.
I absolutely love Up and Poom in this. I've been a fan of Up for a while (since seeing him in Lovely Writer first) and his acting range is phenomenal. Poom also plays Joe so well I think the universe just wants to protect him at all costs.
You're right, Ming fell in love with Joe "on the side", but he didn't want to admit it (he wanted power over Joe)…
Yep I think Ming was falling in love with Joe without fully realising it, as he was still in the muddy process of having loved Tong for so long, and it took losing Joe for him to realise it. He just went the TOTAL wrong, and selfish way, about trying not to lose him.
I would love to see Sol with Joe too, but if Joe forgives Ming I can ONLY accept it if Ming doesn't mistreat Joe again and ONLY if it is 100% Joe's choice. Joe has EVERY right to never forgive Ming ever again. Ball is all in Joe's court.
Episode 4, just WOW, what an episode. I LOVED how Joe stood up for himself and left Ming and I also LOVED Sol tried to protect Joe from Ming too. I absolutely HATED that Ming locked Joe up the way he did, and to be honest, Joe has every right not to forgive Ming ever again. One thing I noticed though, is I can tell that Ming has definitely fallen in love with Joe over time. What started out with him using Joe as a stand in for Tong, has slowly turned into love while he grieves the loss of his dream of being with Tong. When confronted with the thought of losing Joe I could tell his sole focus thereafter was not loosing Joe. It led him to be irrational in his behaviour. I also noticed that when Tong was on the phone telling Ming about Joe's taking on the acting role, that when Tong asked Ming to help him prevent Joe from being at the press conference, jealousy that Sol was involved in recruiting Joe for the role was the MAIN thing that got Ming riled up and led him to hitting and hand cuffing Joe. He chose to lock Joe up out of jealousy and fear of losing Joe first and utmost - not I believe to actually help Tong. The shift in Ming's feelings is VERY evident and I can't wait to see him really work for Joe's love as seriously, the man has been one giant red flag. Do I feel for Ming though? Yes I actually do. But he also has to accept whatever consequences comes his way - the ball is in Joe's court. Will I ever like Tong? NEVER! the man deserves to be dropped into the finery depths of a volcano and to experience his moment of deqth on loop, over and over again for all of eternity. That man makes me all kinds of angry.
Edited to mention - did anyone else notice that Ming did endorsement deals for the company that made the EXACT same watch that Joe gave him as a gift? When Joe was researching what everyone he knew had been up to these last 3 years, he was confused as to why Ming decided to do the adverts for the watch brand. Well, it is Ming's way of showing how much he loves and misses Joe.

Everyone and their mothers understood thatβs Joe in the action sequences but Ming is too dumb to realize the…
Yep everyone could see it couldn't they. We all new it and I'm hoping the scene where we see Ming hugging Joe from behind and crying, where it looks like Joe was filming an action scene, is Ming actually realising it was him all along. I would love to see it! fingers crossed.
So watching episide three and having seen both the trailer and each episide intro, made me realise something. Ming fell in love with Tong after seeing "Tong" looking beautiful from behind while perfecting a fight sequence on the big screen, I'm guessing in a scene from a trailer for Tong's upcoming movie at the time. The only thing is, I will bet you EVERY DOLLAR that whose fight moves he thought was were so beautiful, was actually Joe performing those scenes. So reality, he fell in love with Joe's beautiful moves and thought it was Tong. In the series intro at the start of this ACTUAL series, and in another scene in the trailer for this actual series, you can see Joe (by this point residing in "new" Joe's body I believe) performing a similar fight sequence as a part of his job of being a stunt double for a new movie he will be working on, and I believe Ming will be watching Joe perform this scene. In the trailer you see Ming hugging Joe from behind and crying. I believe that at some point in the series, Ming will see Joe in new Joe's body make similar fight moves, just like he witnessed in that original trailer that made Ming fall in love with Tong originally, and Ming will once again see the beauty in how Joe moves and realise once and for all that who he actually fell in love with at first sight was ACTUALLY Joe. That this is why Ming will be hugging him and crying. As of course, Joe will still move and have the same beauty and grace in his movements regardless of what body he is in. I can't wait to see Ming realise this.
Re Sol, I absolutely love him, though he was a little bit much this episode. I totally get him protecting Joe, but trying to "claim" him so publicly in the press conference, though he did it out of pride for Joe, it is similar in how Ming takes choices away from Joe too, and that is never going to work. Ohhhhh this is going to be a LONG week until the next episode airs! The preview for it looks SO GOOD. ππ
Thank you. I just don't think I could see Joe receive hate or danger from another source, he is dealing with too much already!
