Having read your article before it was published, right away my eyes caught the green poster of your personal…
Thank you for the comment Cho Na! I'm so glad to hear that you liked Kikujiro. In the modern age of slice-of-life dramas, it is indeed a unique and touching story. There was also a behind-the-scenes material released called Jam Session. I found it raw, but you can clearly see from the documentary that Takeshi is a down to earth guy who tries to maintain good atmosphere on the set.
When I read the title on the front page, I was almost sure you were the author...Thanks a lot for this detailed,…
Thank you so much for the comment, Sumi!
I was hoping that you may confirm Kitano's fame in France :) That book of Kitano's which you describe sounds very interesting!
I personally recommend both A Scene at the Sea and Kikujiro. If you really don't like yakuza themes, then maybe it is best to give a pass. Then again, it is a very unconventional movie, that's why I greatly enjoyed it.
Tbh, I also try to collect DVDs in my area like crazy. Unfortunately, the only Kitano movies that were released here on physical media were Brother and Zatoichi.
It shows that you have a huge knowledge of Kitano Takeshi. Very interesting post! I feel that I learned a lot…
Thank you for a kind comment. I hope that you will enjoy some of Takeshi's movies, or at least Takeshi's Castle (it's on YouTube). Jeszcze raz dziękuję i ślę pozdrowienia w szary listopadowy dzień.
I was first introduced to him with Battle Royale. The only movies I didn’t see from your article are Achilles…
Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I think that Kitano did a good remake of Zatoichi. I also made a separate review of this film on my blog. It was the first Zatoichi movie I saw and it inspired me to check out the previous ones + spin off (Ichi).
Thank you so much, dear penel :) I know that I can always count on your feedback.Yeah, I agree about your choices,…
I you like Ryuichi's vibes that much, then I also recommend The Last Emperor. I love the music score + Ryuichi has a small part in the film (he delivers a speech about how Japan is going to conquer all Asia).
Reading your top-notch articles is always a great fun - and a chance to add new movies in my PTW lists!I haven't…

Yeah, I agree about your choices, especially Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. Interestingly, the movie is often compared by film scholars to (yet another war classic) The Bridge on the River Kwai. Even though Sakamoto Ryuichi's music is a materpiece, I like both films equally.
Ebi, Takeshi's Castle was aired here in late 2000s and all I remember is that the challenges are hilariously hopeless!…
Yeah, Takeshi's Castle is a crazy show. It is unbelievable that nobody died while making it. I watched Dolls, but the film was not right up my valley so as to wholeheartedly recommend it.
lol... you're fast! I was about to pm you a message informing this article link to give you an example how your…
Yeah, I noticed this as well. According to the timer, it is slated to appear on the 13th of November, so it is best to wait a day. I will also post a feed notification when the article is finally available.
It is interesting to know that some of his writing stuff was actually translated into English.
You are absolutely right. His paintings are amazing!
