Thank you for the insightful comment about the film. I also had similar feelings about it. The FL is one of the best pictures (out of many NK's weak ones) about the subject of Japanese oppression. From South Korea, the only movies that really caught my attention about this topic were The Battleship Island and Admiral: The Roaring Currents, but these are modern productions filled with special effects.

Excellent article and very informative. I have done some light research myself into North Korean film, media and…
Thank you for the comment! It's great that you enjoyed it. Yes, mainstream media tend to stick to political narratives. That is not to say, however, that NK is entirely positive/negative country. Thank you for a kind comment! I personally recommend "The Schoolgirl's Diary," it's my fave NK movie. Yes, unfortunately, some of the films are blocked, but most of them should be available.

Thank you for a wonderful reply! You can also search for the films on Youtube manually and see if these are unlocked in your region. Footprints of Military Service are available on Youtube, but without English subtitles. You can find Pulgasari here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCKSR0JArUQ
When it comes to Nameless Heroes and The Nation and Destiny, these were treated more like "movies" by the authorities and had the length between 60-90 min (plus limited production resources), that's why there were so many years in the making.
