Usually when someone in the family died, they hang white lantern on their house. Beside his family is rich big family, it should have been big event for his funeral.

His death will alarm them that there are bigger situation coming. And his death also help his son to escape by diverting their target to himself.

The book send before the Japanese think Hong Shen's dad no longer useful, so it manage to be sent safely. But then Hong Shen discovered that picture related to Kunwu and his dad ponder over the confidence the Japanese has to occupy Changsha, what maybe the cause. By then they already alerted the Japanese and already circling their house and they cant contact their agents. Hong Shen still being kept alive because the Japanese thought they can more easily get information from him compare from his dad. His dad made himself as bait 🤧🤧🤧

Maybe it is the theme, i think Chinese more protective about their drama content if it is related to their real history, that is also the reason why historical dramas based on real historical figures tend to have longer and stricter censorships.
