for me, all 3 are different stories with different set of characters and I would not like to compare them. why even compare, when you get to see variety of emotions to see on screen. more varied experience with their scenes.

yes. that is why this question they ask themselves is what stuck to me. they realised what they mean to each other which is just love. the answer to all of the questions asking why did Xiao Chen get back was the last few lines in the novel - which i interpret as, Xiao Chen did realise that they don't know when but only time will tell how will they go past whatever has happened in past. So every thing is being remembered yet they are past it or hoping to get past it.

for me it's more of the deep love they had for each other. to me it's not even about until they're no longer ours. but yes some can see it that way.
