The pressure must be unbearable when youβre an actor or a K-pop idol. The agency can drive you crazy, constantly…
I noticed everyone who worked at the airport at Incheon in Korea was stunning. It seems they only hired beautiful people to be the face of their country at the airport (I also discovered that resumes always have your picture on them in SK, too. The U.S. has its own share of flawed systems, but at least we don't have to have our picture on our resume). π¬ Incheon has been one of my favorite airports to fly into/out of, but this aspect of it made me sad.
I refuse to believe that they didn't have some money for a proper intro π Do we have to see AI intros from…
I never realized how strongly people feel about intros until drama-makers started dabbling with AI. I never watch them, so I have no feelings about them. π But apparently way more people watch them than I realized!
Came back just to say how much I loved the BGMs (and even some of the OST) in this drama. Roc Chen really completed the epic scale of the drama, like John Williams completed Star Wars.
Just had to drop this after holding out for 9 episodes in the hope the plot would become clearer or they would…
I had to do some careful work the first 1/3 as I watched, but it pays off down the road, never fear. Season 2 does a much better job introducing characters. It doesn't have a Mei Chang Su, but it has other excellent qualities that make it worth a watch.
There were a lot of comments about this when it was airing. It really is excessive. π¬ It would make sense if the beer was product placement, but even so... still too much.
Whenever I explore a potential new Cdrama I look to see if you wrote a review; I find them very helpful! No pressure or anything, but I've been missing your reviews for more recent Cdramas. π
This drama is rated higher than My Demon, Her Private Life, Pinocchio, Suspicious Partner, He Is Psychometric. Are…
I can't believe My Demon is in this list of "better" dramas...
Suspicious Partner is, in my opinion, a very mid drama with only good chemistry and spicy scenes between the leads to make it noteworthy (despite how awful the FL is as a character--she was written as clumsy and unintelligent as Kdrama FLs come).
And as for Pinnochio, that drama is over 10 years old. To maintain an 8.3 after all this years is not shabby, especially when paired with the number of watchers it has. It should have a higher rating, but it's dated, and that makes it a hard sell for people discovering Kdramas now when compared against beautifully filmed dramas from the last 6 or 7 years when Kdrama production quality skyrocketed. The writing is some of the best, though.
He Is Psychometric is fine, but I think that a low 8 score for it is deserved.
Don't worry, this drama's score will eventually drop over time, especially if it continues as it's been going. It's cute and enjoyable so far, but no masterpiece by any means.
The ML does look far more natural by comparison. He didn't even get eyelid surgery! I so respect when they embrace the monolid.
The reality, though, is that ALL actors are probably doing some form of plastic surgery (however minimal) in SK in order to keep up with those going all in. I do wish the Korean entertainment industry could try to backtrack some on the insane beauty culture standards. It's getting to a concerning extent sometimes (and the Chinese entertainment industry is no better!).
Can you, guys, give me recommendations for good cdramas like this one? I rarely watch cdramas, so dunno what's…
I will also add Flourished Peony and its second season, In The Name Of Blossom. The second season is a bit controversial because it does have some angst, but when I saw the angst as part of the leads growth in learning to extend the human dignity of freedom and choice, and allowing their significant other to make choices as free individuals--it comes together. The drama (like Jadewind) does a lot to comment on gender roles and the way society has men treat women (in general, and when in relationships). It's fascinating and got me thinking for days. π Just know season 2 does go through a rough patch that I could justify within the overall narrative arc of our leads. You just have to keep the big picture in perspective.
Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Family By Choice (ish)
I think When Life Gives You Tangerines is on Jeju as well?
