Okay, so anyone else having trouble with Viki making this available in the U.S.? I just logged on to watch and it still just says "coming soon." 😔

I wonder what is the previous poster
It was the leads standing together with swords crossing over one another in like a superhero-ish fight stance (with the colors of gold and black). It was fine. I like this one better, I think.

It’s #1 on Viki too, although Viki’s Top 20 isn’t an indicator of quality — #2 is Positively Yours 🙄🫣
I'll at least consider it. 😉

Oh my, haha. I was excited for a Hong sisters project with Seon Ho and Yoon Jung, but I was turned off by the comments about the split personality stuff. So I never got to it. Probably never will. 😏

Haha, does sound like they missed the boat as far as what to emphasize; lean into the tried and true elements of a premise like this!

I liked Fated To Love You (which definitely had some pacing issues), which has a similar premise. Sounds like this one is not holding up, though.

This drama becomes better & better with each episode but it’s so full of heartbreaking stories 😢
I was enjoying it, but it's definitely gotten more and more on the heavy/somber side and I've lost some steam.

I don't know why she is that thin, and she is not the only one actress that thin. I don't know if Korean people…
And in addition to the extreme thinness of Chinese actors, some of the face work some Chinese actors get done is borderline frightening. Korean celebs tend to be a bit more tasteful/subtle with the plastic surgery (though not always), but I've seen some genuinely disturbing features in Cdramas that just make me cringe for some actors. I wish we could have more Asian actors like Jackie Li who just looks like a normal, healthy actress. I so admire her for keeping her natural features (from what I can see) intact. Unfortunately, I'm sure the industry makes it really hard, and fans don't help by slobbering over all the unrealistically gorgeous actors, but even some healthy representation is welcome over none!

I was so sad for the actor playing the ML in Joy Of Life in Season 2. He went from being a healthy looking man in Season 1 to being positively gaunt in Season 2. One shot showed his hand and it did look like a skeleton's hand. 🫣😬😳

Perfectly imperfect is a good way of putting it. Kdramas write characters like this when they're at their best (and it's not easy to do as they can very easily and quickly become annoying if not written correctly; the best dramas write characters that are quite flawed, but grow a ton by the end)! Love the character arcs. It's what keeps me coming back to them. 🥰

I've been seeing some women on social media platforms talk about the trend back towards unhealthy thinness depicted in media again. Obviously it was a huge issue in the early 2,000s, but, alas, now it seems to be having another resurgence everywhere. Apparently a lot of celebrities and people in general are using the diabetes medication Ozempic for fast weightloss? Bummer!

Anytime a child actor is used under a certain age, there is always a twin involved, any chance a twin was used…
Probably why we don't see a lot of dramas with adorable children in them. 😅 Expensive and inconvenient (as it should be). For babies it's the parents who are casting their children, and the kiddos at that age have no say, so they should be treated very carefully and very well.

After making it to the end, I can say I enjoyed this! The leads had great chemistry, and the ML really grew on me as the drama progressed. He, the FL and their son were scene stealers when together, and all three grew more and more convincing as a family. I think the drama downplayed how unsettling it would be for Quan Quan to have his dad in and out if his life like this, and they mostly played it up for comedy without really showcasing the dysfunction it would most definitely cause.

One of my gripes has to do with the number of times the ML almost succeeded in confessing and "starting fresh" with the FL and having his attempts literally interrupted and ruined not once, but TWICE. Several times we had scenarios of five steps forward, six steps back. 😅 It was clearly just a typical drama trope grab for more drawn out angst and if they hadn't hadn't given us so many sweet scenes of them finally together again in the last few episodes, I would have finished this quite frustrated and displeased. I called each of the things way in advance that caused the angst (they were made very obvious), but they still annoyed the heck out of me because they were handled in an unnecessarily over-the-top way. 😅 I get that the FL had some legitimate reasons for her reluctance to accept him back, but by the end of this drawnout saga, I started getting annoyed with her character because she was basically just playing hard to get as the ML had proven his devotion and trustworthiness by that point. And the way they showed the guys "winning" the girls back just felt kind of pathetic and childish at times (on both sides). Again, it was played for the angst and the comedy, but some of it was completely unnecessary.

My other gripe is the female empowerment emphasis felt on the nose; it was too in your face, as the men in this were either angels or molesters and it didn't give much nuance or subtlety between the two extremes (okay, the 2ML was in between these two, but I skipped almost all of his scenes because I thought he and his loveline were very boring).

Speaking of the 2ML, I found the side love plots not that interesting (I admit, I mostly skipped them 🤫). The ML and FL were the most interesting part by far, and the 2FL's plot was better than the 2ML's plot because her boyfriend was really sweet; that said, I just felt like they tried to make their relationship kind of out of the box and edgy and it ended up just feeling kind of cringe, cause the 2FL just felt like a typical sugar mama. If they were trying to show that these relationships can work and should be accepted, they should have tried a little harder to make it feel less fickle and childish. 😉

It was enjoyable, but I can see why some might have a hard time finishing this. I think the sweet scenes and slow progression into a family for our three leads made all of the angst worth it in the grand scheme of things, but do prepare yourself for a ride on a rollercoaster getting there. 😉

P.S. The FL could be Song Zuer's sister! They have very similar (unique) faces to one another. I almost thought this FL was Song Zuer at first.

I'm not that far yet! It was starting to get depressing so I lost some steam. The leads have been great, though!
