I don't think the FL not having a fake moustache makes her more feminine. In fact many of the FLs on this list look feminine or even more feminine with fake moustaches as they obviously look fake. Moustaches are the not the provider of the illusion of masculinity. Men look masculine even without moustaches probably because of the bone structure of the face. And it is not like there were no feminine looking men in ancient china. The so called ancient china BLs have feminine looking men. Here we need an androgynous woman, or at a pre pubescent boy. Many prepubescent boys or boys who have just started puberty look feminine or pretty, just before the growth spurt, facial hair growth, voice change. Here, I presume the FL is in her teens, thus playing a man in his teens. So, it can still be passed of as that. Also, she does not have very red lips, or heavily powdered face as of now, so that is okay.
Could she be made to look more masculine? Yes.
Does she look very masculine? No.
Does she look very feminine? No.
She gives off a pretty boy look for now.
Also, there are other recruits in the army who look as pretty as her (Jiang Jiao), so I think it is okay for now.
The main point is whether it improves or not in the long run.

I wish they had followed the novel's ending! That way they could have cleaned up the corrupt officials in the ministries better and also Qin Wan as the Empress would have been able to empower women more, than their lives being limited to the inner chambers.

In ep 32, at around timestamp 17:30, Yan Chi asks Qin Wan that if he fails to inherit the throne whether she will still marry him, but he is the nephew of the Emperor and was never supposed to inherit the throne in the first place. At least he never showed this ambition before, did something change that I may have missed?

Yes, or cut the episodes a bit for the first cases and increase the scenes for case 4 and 5 as these cases introduced even more characters and are the foundation for the palace episodes.

Slowly the cases are becoming more abrupt. Especially the deducing and solving part. In fact, in the novel, the later cases were more complicated as they were more interconnected with palace politics. But in the drama they have been oversimplified to the point of weird jumps and very fast solves. Case 5 was pretty well detailed in the novel. I guess 38 episodes for depicting nearly 500+ chapters is a bit tough. Previous three cases were still well spaced but now its becoming more and more choppy. I hope there are no plot holes in the drama because of this.

Why is there two Jiang Chang Jue in the cast list? Also, JCJ is JTH s brother, but why is a prince being called that? Are the subtitles off?

MD was brainwashed by the Leopard lady(with one red eye) into stabbing LR. Though, she does manage to come out of it in the end. This was in the novel, don't know how the drama will play it.

I agree with you that the editing and putting together of the scenes is rather choppy to the point that there are obvious plot holes and things that seem to be done just to keep our protagonists alive and drive the plot forward. There is also more of a tell-not-show thing in the later episodes, probably because of censorship or difficulty in shooting those scenes.

The novel also reveals something a bit more bigger, if you want I could tell you about it. Hint: it is related to the 7th Arc.

The reason he survived is actually revealed later, atleast it is revealed in the book. If it is not shown in the drama, it will make the surviving thing seem dumb.
