If you had started with that.... Even though I don't an explanation of these sorts of things. My criticism isn't that the character lacked a name (that was a response to your misread), it's that a lazy Club Friday cliche was walloped in. And given the director's history, I think out-of-place Club Friday cliche is far more likely than bold feminist statement.
* especially around the khun luang who is spoiled, entitled and traumatised - all of which leaves him unable to cope with anyone refusing his commands.
Hardly. Had to use the actor's name because the writers didn't bother to give the character one. My observation is about the poor quality of the writing.
Turning Louis' character into an abusive dick was... a choice. Most of the writing in this is lazy but that was something else. Sloppy, stupid, jarring, weird.
Is Orm's character infantalised again? That was the vibe I got from the first trailer and also my biggest disappointment from TSoU. I really liked her feisty takes-no-BS best-friend tomboy character in Matalada and wish Ch 3 continued in that vein for her GLs. (Also her role in Nakak from Thai PBS.) From the comments I'm thinking it might be best if I skip this one.
i‘ve made this mistake so many times, i should have learned by now… whenever i‘m in the middle of a series…
I liked the last episodes. It all worked in the bigger context, and with similar pacing as the other stories. It's like commenters here shifted from this style of story-telling to their more conventional expectations or something.
This is next level use of Custom Lists as a way to get around site limitations. Bravo to you and/or whoever thought of it :) Have already used yours JulyMoon, thanks
Why was she THAT upset with her high school crush? Have I missed something? The shift seemed to come when he said he was going to be a father. I've felt that pain myself, can't have children and it ended a few relationships. The pain of knowing a crush wouldn't be requited because he'd fallen in love and gotten married during the years she was away? That he deadnamed her? It would have been what she was using when she contacted him and she didn't correct that until the end. That he made it a group gathering? It was an insensitive move but it felt like he was wanting to include her. He should have asked, but there was also the disconnect of her thinking in terms of something like a date while for him it was meeting an old friend. Since he's married would it be acceptable in Japanese etiquette for him to have dinner/drinks with a woman alone? Did the ball represent her past? Would "Thank you but that's not who I am anymore" not do? The frustration with everything and everyone erupting and he was the available target? And one who wouldn't strike back. I understand how difficult it is to have to educate and explain constantly (there are a couple of things about myself I have to do that with too, it's exhausting), but it felt unfair to lash out at one person who seemed to have accepted her even if he didn't think everything through. Did I miss something? Was there a more egregious violation I didn't catch?
The dramas that should end in 7, 8 episodes are stretched up to 12-15 episodes, and this gem is only 8 episodes,…
Funding. Some series only need 8, but when it's the norm for a young genre like GL it's money. This is why it matters that we watch as much as we can from legal sources rather than pirate sites.
Which version is on GMMTV's YT? First ep totals 54 mins, 2nd and 3rd are about 70 mins each so the timings are closer to what's listed for Uncut here. Did they put the cut version out on terrestrial and uncut on YT?
