Back when I watched this, I was bothered that Hee Joo was so separated from the main conflict of the game with Jin Woo. I wanted them to work together, so it was a huge disappointment for me that she only learns about the game nearing the end and even still, she was hardly involved. Although I would've preferred more involvement, I think this approach works too because of the theme of trust. Out of ALL the characters, she is in the position least inclined to believe him from how separated she is from everything yet she was the only person who believed his story and supported him. Others had the facts in front of them, yet they refused to listen to him, claimed him mad, and even betrayed him while she only had his word. Her support is more powerful than any other. In his descent into despair, she became his safe place and it's beautiful
I absolutely love this k-drama ❤️. I plan to rewatch it again in the future. Jin Woo's arc was so impactful, and Hee Joo's role in it was what made it even more of a thematic masterpiece for me
The mother-daughter dynamic was my absolute favorite part about this drama 💯💯💯
The nuances in their relationship was everything to me because a lot of stories have the mother character a black and white bad parent, but here it's so much more than that. In parenting, Yuan Yi was the peak of good intentions but bad execution. She doesn't know how to parent a daughter like Niao Niao who is nothing like she's ever dealt with. She feels guilt for not being there for her daughter and wants to make up for it. Unfortunately, she shows her love in a controlling and overbearing way.
Niao Niao's desire to be loved by her mother was so palpable, I ended up crying. They both want a loving relationship with each other but don't know how to build that bridge. Instead, they continuously drive each other away.
I love that the conflict of their relationship is lasting as long as it is. It feels more realistic to me to have their strongly held values and beliefs clashing throughout than to have it resolved easily in a few episodes. The pacing is a strong point of this drama.
please elaborate on what complex emotion FL has to like an under 12 years old as an opposite sex. It will be great…
I had thought the same way that it wasn't really romantic when they were young, but when she became Jiuem, didn't she ask to marry Seoha when he was in high school? That could be considered pedophilia since despite her young physicality, she is centuries old. Or is she just trying to be memorable for later on? I'm interested to know what you think
Why she wants people to know she is the 12yo teen who died? She is as much that teen as she is the Arab guy and…
Based off the episodes I've watched, I believe she wants people to know she was Joo won because that's her most recent past life. She especially identifies with it because she has people around her who knew her 18th life who she can get close to. She said it wasn't normal for her to reincarnate right after she dies like she did with her 18th to 19th life, so being able to see those she's left behind...of course she wants to tell them she's alive and ease their grieving
She's crying because her mother has to work so hard to get by. The mother's notes prove how hard things are for…
Woah, you're right. It does seem like she's embarrassed by it. I didn't think she'd be embarrassed about those kinds of things. Or maybe she just didn't want to draw attention? Or something to do with etiquette? Idk. Like, she hid how poverished she was and who her mother was not because she's ashamed but because she doesn't want to get harassed, so her being ashamed by her mother's sign language seems very out of character. Seems like a one off occurance
in the middle of the 1rst ep, and i'm speechless... the MC is embarrassed by her mom using sign language in public?????…
She's crying because her mother has to work so hard to get by. The mother's notes prove how hard things are for her. And Eun sang was never embarrassed by her mother's disability. I don't know what exactly gave you that impression
I can't believe I put this off for months because of the negative reviews. This experience has taught me to give shows a try for myself. I loved The Heirs 💯
