ML is easily the best written character in the show for me. he also protects Huiju so fiercely because he has a strong sense of regret over his powerlessness and inability to protect his loved ones in the past such as his mom and brother.

when Huiju ended things with him and he said "not you too". all that grief was funneled into that statement. I can't lose you too due to my inability/hesitation to act.

IAN is a brilliantly written character. the plot writing of this show is at times loose, but the character writing is really good across the board with IAN, Huiju, young King, Daebi Mama, etc.

okay, first of all, PM claims to love Huiju yet he's done done nothing to bring the people who tried to kill her to justice and is instead using it as leverage against them to advance his own wicked goals.
Ian is choosing not to punish Daebi Mama purely out of forgiveness and his good heart, and he will bring an end to her abuse of her son. he said he wants to protect everyone once he gains the crown. everyone including the nephew

how are those two things even remotely similar???

Also, Ian didn't know how dangerous the family was at first. he tried protecting her after her poisoning by opening an investigation on the royal family and by constantly keeping her away from the palace and in his private residence. when he saw his efforts weren't enough and he could still lose her, he decided to become king to protect her and their marriage.

he let his nephew suffer by hesitating cos he needed to be sure that he was pursuing the crown for the right reasons, and not out of greed. he's still not sure, but the pressure mounted on him has caused him to finally act out of necessity.

also, Huiju and Ian have had plenty of moments together. having fun, talking whether about random or deep things, and just being in each other's presence. I don't know if you've never fallen in love before, but sometimes, all it takes is being around the right person to form an attachment. once that attachment was formed and she saw how much he loved and protected her as well, what do you want her to do. she obviously fell in love with him. what did PM ever do? pathetic loser couldn't even confess his feelings like a man😒. please don't compare him to IAN.

yeah sure, but Ian taking over would be a good thing fir his little nephew who is clearly under constant pressure. he's gonna do it eventually so why not do it now when his nephew needs it the most so he can start enjoying a less pressured childhood

the only explanation I can accept for that is if Ian placed the document in his secure safe without knowing someone had access to his safe. but if someone did have access to his safe, they'd have stolen the will as well. which means they were probably careless with the contract drafts. which means they're idiots. why even write down a super incriminating document on paper in the first place 🤦

I wouldn't go do far as to call it a joke, but the writers do tend to forget or sideline major relevant plot points. Huiju should be smart enough to know that a random mechanic didn't just wake up one morning and decide to sabotage her car. He must've been paid by someone who wants her dead. But she hit one obstacle and just gave up on digging. that's not the tenacious fl i was introduced to in episode 1. and Ian's delay in acting o his brothers will makes absolutely no sense. hopefully they have a reasonable explanation for that

I wish people who dislike this drama would express their dislike for it without looking down on those who like it. i also wish people who like it can express their support without labelling those who dislike it as haters.

i seriously doubt that. I think he's gonna be like the SML in My Demon who accepts thst she loves someone else and continues to support and protect her

this is exactly how I felt about the likes of KYL and BAYM. i think most kdrama romcoms with stacked casts are doomed to be unspectacular. I've never been one to fall for visuals. however, I genuinely believe this drama truly has something to offer. it's by no means spectacular. the world building is wonky, character backstory writing is unoriginal and shallow even if it purports depth. and the story is quite illogical at times. however, I could never rate it so low because my rating system accounts for visuals, music, character likeability and so much more because i believe every show has something to offer in at least one department. this show excels in comedy, chemistry, music, acting, etc. I feel happy when I watch it and that's the most important thing. but I understand that you don't and respect your opinions.

episode 5 was sooo good. I'm enjoying this a lot more than I expected to. I love how Huiju inspires positive change in the Prince. i love that Ian's trauma isn't bring used to justify any negative or toxic behavior. and the script is giving BWS more room to show off his acting chops. almost halfway through and the quality has been consistent. I'm excited for the second half.

well, the whole show had been building up to it. she narrowly escaped death several times. they couldn't just pretend like she wasn't a lost soul living on borrowed time, and have her live out her life till old age. also, she needed to die and come back so she could CHOOSE the Goblin, without all the baggage and responsibility of being fated to be his bride. she needed to be with him out of her own free un-influenced will, not cos fate brought them together 🤷🏽‍♀️

it's certainly not bad. but it was 8.6 less than 24 hours ago 🤷🏽‍♀️. does a drop like that mean the second episode wasn't well received?

i know shows usually start high and drop, but this has dropped so low so quickly.

I'm almost done watching Descendants of the Sun and I don't think it's an overstatement to say that this drama has to be the most overrated kdrama I've ever seen. it was certainly good, but nothing particularly special or out of this world. also, i dont see how a drama with such high production value couldn't put more effort into teaching their actors how to speak English properly. Out of 30 or so characters that spoke English at one point or the other in this drama, only one character spoke it naturally and fluently, and that was the villain. Song Joong Ki's delivery of his English lines made me wanna rip my ears off every time. And the villain was an underdeveloped clown. The female lead was so annoying and really had one character arc throughout the whole show- should i or should I not date the ml😒. I couldn't care less after the first few episodes. i liked the secondary couples though. another thing about this drama is that it's sooooo overdramatic. the excessive unnecessary slow mo editing was just tacky.

I went into this drama comparing it to Goblin cos theyre from the same year, and the same screen writer, i think. and they both partly take place in a foreign country. But wow, Goblin is leagues above DOTS. DOTS was honestly a pretty average drama for me packed with a brilliant cast of leads. It was still worth it to see Kim Jiwon.

I'm studying for exams but clearly y'all want me to fail😪. Fine I give in. I'll go watch episode 2😅

Personally, I really enjoyed the first episode. That being said, I also respect the opinions of people who didn't enjoy it and i don't see them as haters, but rather, people with conflicting views. See how those two things can exist?

But seriously, please stop coming after people who have criticisms about the show. Hating on an actor's appearance is completely wrong and deserves reprimand, but criticizing an actor's acting isn't. Art and it's representation is open to different interpretations.

most fans feel personally attacked by any form of criticism against their favorite shows and actors. it's so exhausting that they want everyone to digest a piece of art in the same positive breath as they did. and they feel like if we didn't feel positively about it, we should keep our opinions to ourselves. i don't know who told them that MDL was created for sharing positive views alone.

I've watched some of his other stuff so i know he can act, in my opinion. But yeah, his performance here isn't exactly blowing me away. I'm hoping it'll get better as well as other aspects of the show.
