Jaeun and Harin are biological sisters. They both lived in poverty with their mom and stepdad and were very, very close, some would say inseparable.
Their stepdad was a terrible person, kept urging their mom to send one of the girls to the orphanage so they didn't have to take care of both of them. Since Jaeun was always a bit quiet and on the 'dumb' side, Harin thought she would be the one to get sent away, so she worked extremely hard to make sure Jaeun wouldn't go away and they could stay together.
Harin was always smart and cunning, even as a kid. She manipulates her mom into making sure both of them can stay together and she keeps Jaeun away from her parents so that they can't emotionally guilt trip her into voluntarily going to the orphanage. However, her stepdad catches on to her and through a series of events, Harin gets sent to the orphanage.
The orphanage is terrible, Harin gets abused daily. There, there's also this policy that 'good' kids, those who are ranked B or above by the handlers, get extra food at meals, don't have to clean etc. Whereas, those who are ranked F get bullied by both the handlers and other orphans.
The only thing keeping Harin going is getting back to Jaeun because she thinks the latter is absolutely wrecked at being separated from her sister. However, she goes out of the orphanage one day and sees Jaeun eating ice cream with her mom, all happy. That's when she starts hating her, and she realizes Jaeun played a big role in her getting sent to the orphanage in the first place.
Harin then comes back to the orphanage with a single purpose - to get revenge on Jaeun. She acts like the perfect, sweet, innocent girl to get an A grade and realizes she will need to get adopted into a rich family if she wants to have the power to do anything to Jaeun. So, she works on her manners and makes herself the perfect 'rich' daughter.
One day, the parents from the Baek group come to the orphanage to adopt a child. Their child, Baek Harin, just passed away, and they need her alive because the chairwoman of the group (Harin's grandma) adores Baek Harin and was thinking of passing down all her assets to her. So, the parents need her to get the assets.
The orphanage owner suggests Harin and another girl. The couple chooses the other girl to adopt because she has more of a resemblance to the dead Baek Harin. However, our main Harin knows she needs to get adopted to this family, so she volunteers for kitchen duty with the other girl the day before the latter's adoption is supposed to get finalized and burns her face with hot water. The couple refuse to adopt a girl with a scarred face and Harin gets adopted instead.
She sees Jaeun again in school when she transfers in Year 2 and decides to make the Pyramid Game more cruel so she can torture her and exact her revenge. The whole purpose of the game is to ruin Jaeun.
She burns the kid because she reminds her of herself when she was young (even her mom comments that she look the same as younger Harin). Most of Harin's issues rise from self-hatred. That was a personified way for the director to show it.
Harin was never a benevolent creature. She couldn't care less about kids in an orphanage. Remember, she burnt another kid's face so she could get adopted by the Baek family. If anything, her burning the kid's hand is inline with her character out of school.
For anyone wondering why Harin's father is so scared of her and listens to everything she says, there is a very valid reason, you will find out later on.
Just know that everything Harin does is for a reason.
I went on a TikTok deep dive and saw that Haeeun was super liked coz she was like a damsel in distress… but…
Lmao, I love how you act like you know Haeeun and Hyungyu's relationship.
What would you do if you met your ex at 19/20 and dated him all the way till you were 26/27? Those emotions aren't easy to forget. Also, Gyumin broke up with Haeeun because he didn't like the way she had grown and changed, so she felt guilty about it entering the house. He also invited her, so it's not unnatural for her to feel like he invited her to get closure.
That's all in the past though. Haeeun looks very happy now, in a recent vlog, she went on a trip with Hyungyu and his friends and you can tell all of them love her and she is very comfortable with them. She's said before too that she's in the happiest stage of her life right now. I think you should wish her well instead of making claims about her personality.
Overall i would recommend it if you can enjoy ten hours of four cis men being unable to communicate literally…
That damn bar kiss... it was so out of character for Syn too. Do we really think a devout Buddhist who grew up in a temple would be okay with PDA to that degree? Ridiculous

You know what, I'm beginning to think we like NueaSyn so much BECAUSE we saw so little of them. If they were the main couple, the screenwriters would've found a way to mess them up too, so I'm glad they're our little oasis side couple.
People (including myself) in my opinion like badbuddy for its great acting and chemistry, i do agree for the fact…
Oops, I had no idea that happened!
And hey, I've enjoyed really shitty content in the past because I was in the mood to consume it, so I'm not judging anyone for liking CP! Everything I say is in the interest of healthy debate and moving discussions forward, not for picking fights. I leave positive reviews as they are and mainly comment under comments that I find interesting or want to provide my take on. It's my debate club heart talking lol

Also criticism isn't hate. There's a HUGE difference.
