I dont understand how this kingdom works like why are they getting away so easily after threatening the queen…
Well it was mentioned in the past episode that at that time, the king was powerless while the real power belong to the Kim So Yong clan, the Kim's clan. The queen also mentioned in the past episode using Bong Hwan voiceover when she was sitting on the throne beside the king that Kim Jwa Geun, Byung In adopted father was powerful beyond the king even in the court.
From the wikipedia: Cheoljong ascended to the throne in 1849 at the age of 19 after King Heonjong died without an heir. As a distant relative of both the recently deceased king as well as a descendant of King Yeongjo, Cheoljong was selected for adoption by the Senior Dowager Queen Sunwon (King Sunjo's widow) at the time and to allow him to ascend to the throne. The future Cheoljong was found on Ganghwa Island where his family had been in exile since the Catholic Persecution of 1801.
When the envoys (dispatched in order to seek for the future king) arrived on Ganghwa Island, they found the exiled remnants of the royal clan barely surviving in wretched poverty, and in the midst of that degradation, 19-year old Yi Won-beom was proclaimed King. Though from the start of the Joseon Dynasty Korean kings had given top priority to the education of their sons, Cheoljong could not even read a single word on the notice delivering congratulations to him on his elevation to the royal throne.
For the Andong Kims, Cheoljong was an excellent choice. His illiteracy made him manipulable and vulnerable to their control. Proof of this was that even though Cheoljong ruled the country for 13 years, until his very last days he had not yet learned how to move with dignity or how to wear royal clothes, so that in even the most luxurious of robes he still looked like a fisherman.
As part of the Andong Kim's manipulation of Cheoljong, in 1851, the clan married Cheoljong to Kim Mun-geun's daughter, known posthumously as Queen Cheor'in.
Cheoljong died at the age of 32 in 16 January 1864 (by suspected foul play by the Andong Kim clan, the same clan which made him king), without any surviving male heirs. Once again, it became necessary to search far back in the Yi lineage to find a candidate for the throne.
It is depends on whose the real power belong to. Well, it did not work when the King was like King Sejong the…
Haha If there were peoples dare to barge into the room where the queen laid and raised their sword to the king like Byung In and his minions did at the time of King Sejong or King Taejong's reign, God now what happen to them later LOL
So, byung in was also involved in spoiling the ingredients for the banquet. These two second leads are really getting…
About Hwa Jin, I think So Bong doesn't care much about her before because he didn't feel like she is dangerous or a threat.
When So Bong remember that Hwa Jin impersonated young So Yong as young Cheol Jong's savior, she even given Hwa Jin chance to confess the truth to Cheol Jong herself.
But yes, now Hwa Jin crossed the line by shooting arrow to So Bong although it was just the arrow for game.
The concubine and the Dowager make my blood boil. Why am I rooting for the evil Kim Clan? Because the Jo Clan…
Kim clan's make Cheol Jong lost his family member and also the reason Cheol Jong and So Yong relationship become bad before their marriage.
Jo's clan used Hwa Jin and incite Hwa Jin hatred for the queen until she is trying to threat the queen using the arrow in the forest right now.
Now Byung In joining the chat by fighting Cheol Jong physically after provoked and show disrespect to him before because he is still blaming Cheol Jong about the way he treated So Yong in the past.
Instead of fighting against each other, the youngster should team up and smack the heck out of the elders in Kim clan and Jo clan since the real reason of the youngster suffering right now is because the actions of those annoying power-hungry elders in both clans.
So many things happened in e11from royal consort for real crossing the line and aligning with queen Dowager; true…
Yes, before this the drama mainly showing us the main female lead conflict with the man's soul in woman's body and how she accepted them.
Now episode 11 will mainly showing about the main male lead conflict through the moves he make to gain power so they can be his backup when him go all out against the Kim's clan later with choosing concubine from various influential families and inviting the families to the royal banquet that he planned.
Since the preview of episode 12 show the king get angry and in tears in front of his court official, I predict this week is the starting point of the main male lead facing the rising conflict because of his decision to shed from his "puppet king's mask" and what he should do to deal with them later.
People who are commenting that Ep 11 was more of a filler.... Are we watching the same show??
They are not interested with the political part I guess.
I read many comments mentioned that this is first time they are watching Korean historical drama maybe that's why they don't understand about action in political part in Korean historical dramas.
Even this drama show funny scene because the main female lead is a queen with a man's soul, the main male lead is a reigning king in Joseon time that trying to gain power since he is just a puppet so of course they will show his political moves.
I like the how the screenwriter give both Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun characters to shine by balancing the comedy part and political part. The queen brings the fun in comedy parts while the king brings action in the political parts.
I enjoyed this drama because of both of their performances and chemistry together.
It seems many people didn't like today episode and dismiss it as a filler but I like it.
Today episode are mainly about political part aka showing how the main male lead struggles as a king through the conflicts that rise towards him.
In episode 11: 1)He choosing the concubines from clans other than the Kim's and Jo's. 2)He invited the concubines clans to royal banquet to slowly build connection with them later. 3) He takes part in the supervising the food for the royal banquet and other to make sure the event that he himself decided can be hold smoothly.
He already make active decision on his own to fight against the Kim's clan and based on the preview of episode 12, it seem the Kim's clan especially Kim Jwa Geun and now his adopted son, Byung In are together in tighten back their hold towards the king. So I look forward for the king to just burst out and shows he already had enough with their treatment to him now.
In the past episodes, the scenes are mainly about the current queen struggles in accepting that she in the woman physical's body and she was married to the king.
Now, she already accepted that she is a queen in historical time even she still denied that she also fallen for the king now just like Kim So Yong fallen for the king in the past.
But even the current queen willing to cooperate with king for the sake of living in Joseon right now, the queen and the king are still not in the same page.
The queen shocked and run away when her cousin, Byung In asked whether she love the king despite everything the king did to her in the past.
The king doesn't denied about his feeling but he mentioned that he couldn't fall in love with the queen when his Hwa Jin asked him about it.
In order for them to acknowledge their feeling, a conflict must happen to the king in the political part so the queen will help him and slowly realized that she also fall in love with him both body and soul even her soul time travel from the future to the So Yong's body.
It seems sometimes people forget that the main male lead is a king in Joseon time. Of course this drama will has political conflicts. The main female lead bring the fun in the comedy part while the main male lead will bring the action in the political part.
I like that the screenwriter give conflict and struggles to both main female lead and main male lead because both Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun are the main leads in this drama.
Bravo to the people that chosen them as the main leads here. I love their performances and chemistry together.
So, as if the king doesn't has enough problem with the Kim's clan especially Kim Jwa Geun and the grand queen dowager, now Byung In entered the chat too based in the preview of episode 12 ughh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxE9243A9dg
From the preview, Byung In and his minions raided the trio (king, his brother & his best friend) secret place where they used to discuss about politics plans and strategies, knocked down and arrested the "secret armies in black outfit" of the trio. He also blocked So Bong from heading towards someone/something at the event.
Then Byung In's adopted father, Kim Jwa Geun kinda threaten the king in the public? "Pay the price for your recklessness"
And the king seems couldn't stand this nonsense anymore. He slipped from his "puppet king's mask" by being angry and shedding tears in front of his official at the royal event huhu.
Although I'm a bit disappointed with the lack interactions between the royal couple in episode 11, we need to remember that this drama already reached it midway from the total of 20 episodes so of course there is a need for a political conflict to rise clearly now.
Many peoples feel that the political parts is boring but I like it. I want to see how Cheol Jong gonna shows his official who's actually the boss in the palace since they treated him like crap for so long.
I'm sure the screenwriter will make So Bong helps the king with her cooking skill and after the king falling more deeper (as if he doesn't fall deep right now) with her, So Bong will accept her feeling towards the king and tadaa! we will get more sweet and kiss scenes later^_^
Ms, King is totally the suitable word to summarize the plot.
It was a long time since I read the manhwa but if I'm not mistaken, she had a twin/older brother that should become king but he died. She had to disguise as a man so she can become king in her twin/brother's place.
And the Chinese drama is an adaptation from the Chinese novel. Since the Chinese drama is not air yet, I wonder if anyone had read the Chinese novel? Is it good?
Heard they are going to make a Korean adaptation of this lol. Hope this is good because Korean version will anyway…
I had watch many Chinese and Korean historical dramas. Chinese had their remake of Korean dramas just like Korean had their own remake of Chinese dramas.
Based on my observation, Chinese historical dramas are usually far ahead than the Korean historical dramas in parts of the costumes, settings and cinematography. But there are good Korean historical dramas too just like there are good Chinese historical dramas.
Whether a drama will be good or not depends on the screenwriter, actors and actresses and also the drama production. Just because it is a Korean version doesn't automatically means it will be a better drama.
I guess whats tiring to you is fun to me. If she didn't say almost everything she was thinking then we would miss…
You're right. This drama is for peoples that enjoy reading isekai/time travel manga/novel since they bring the modern phrase like "anti-fan", fan club", K-food and K-beauty LOL
And people that like intense political stuff won't like it much since the villains are quite comical right now.
But the main reason I love it so much is because the screenwriter not only develop the relationship between main couple but he/she also give balance to main male lead and main female lead characters to shine and not only focus to the main male lead character like the usual Korean historical romance,
They already finished filming on 31/12/2020 and I remember see pic where they filming a scene with the queen staring…
If I'm not mistaken for this drama they planned it to be a pre-produced drama.
They started filming on June/July 2020 and they could finish filming earlier, but then an extra cast had tested positive for Covid-19. After all crew got tested and the results were negative, they been quarantine for days and continue filming. They even filming on Christmas and celebrated it together on set. Finally they finished filming on 31/12/2020.
I appreciate all of their hard work. Kim Jung Hyun and Shin Hye Sun mentioned that they chosen to acted in this drama with hope that at least it could help audience feel less stressful during this pandemic^_^
They are so cute^_^

I think it whether Kim Jwa Geun, Kim Byung In's adopted father or people from Jo's clan like Queen Dowager.
And the Chinese drama is an adaptation from a Chinese novel with the same name.

I had enough with both of them ughh

"The explosion has damaged his hearing"
WHAT?! IS IT PERMANENT? OUR KING! NOOO!!! T_T
I watch her in other drama before Mr Queen and I like her there.
Actress Seol In Ah is just a cute and funny lady.

With this, So Bong can choose to stay as the queen by Cheol Jong's side in the Joseon time without being unfair to both Bong Hwan or So Yong.
I read many comments mentioned that this is first time they are watching Korean historical drama maybe that's why they don't understand about action in political part in Korean historical dramas.
