Usually for low budget Chinese historical drama, the main male lead character is dashing/cool and smart while the main female lead is bratty/silly/goofy/naive and sometimes make dumb decisions. But since that how the script was, how is it the actress fault? She only follow the script given to her that written by the screenwriter.
Imagine if the screenwriter reverse the character in the script by making the main female lead is dashing/cool and smart while the main male lead is bratty/silly/goofy/naive and sometimes make dumb decisions, is that the actor fault? Of course not! He only follow the script given to him!
If you don't like main female lead that is bratty/silly/goofy/naive and sometimes make dumb decision in historical dramas then watch dramas main female lead with tough character like Story Of Yanxi Palace and other dramas. The screenwriter wrote the main female lead as a super tough character in the DRAMA'S SCRIPT.
Anyway, if my girl Zhao Lu Si confirmed in this, I'm happy because I want her to gain experience in another type of character in her drama. I read in the twitter that it is actually a female-centric novel. The character struggle and conflict is delicious to me LOL
This is the same director of the tragic drama, Goodbye My Princess. But I think the main female lead won't kill herself this time since neither of her childhood lover nor her future husband kill her family member;-)

In my opinion, chemistry of the main leads in dramas is in the eyes of the beholder. Some people might feel their chemistry in those dramas but some other people might not. So it quite hard to recommend dramas based on the chemistry because it is subjective.
But I can recommend other Chinese historical dramas that I enjoyed that revolved around the theme of married couples that got married because of arranged/forced marriage just like "The Sleepless Princess".
When watching Chinese dramas on Youtube, I use VPN because usually the videos will not available in my country. If I can't find it on Youtube, I will watch on the popular asian dramas website like Dramacool but I'm not sure if Dramacool is available in your country. You might need to watch on website that available on your country if the videos on Youtube links are not available in your country and you don't want to use VPN. Happy watching!

But when this drama become unexpectedly popular among the viewers while airing, MangoTV decided to cut the happy ending and make it as the epilogue on their apps to earn more money. Before this, to watch the happy ending, you need to pay and become a VIP member on MangoTV apps. But thankfully, there are kind hearted peoples who willing shared the happy ending with broke people like me on the Duboku, Instagram and Dailymotion :-D
The director commented on his social media before that he himself prefer the sad ending that aired on episode 35 because to him it is realistic but I don't think so. I don't mind if a drama has a sad ending like drama Goodbye My Princess but to me the ending as shown in episode 35 is not a sad ending, but an annoying open ending =_=

Lovely Kim So Hyun as a princess again XD The plot is so interesting since it is rare for a royal princess to become main female character in Korean historical drama. Not to mention this drama period is not the usual Joseon period. But I'm really wary with the screenwriter ughhh hope he will not waste the interesting plot and Kim So Hyun acting skill.

But, as far as I remember the main couple in Loving, Never Forgetting don't have contract marriage because the main male lead proposed to the main female lead after he fall in love with her and they slept together again.
