"Just this one time. It's not going to happen again."

*cut to next scene*

"Welp, now that we're sex friends..."

looooool, saw that coming a mile away. I'm so glad they changed the actor for Type for this series. He's a much better actor and a MUCH better kisser. The chemistry is fantastic between these two! Then again, paired with an actor like Mew, I'm sure he was able to bring the best out of his costar.

Wow, I've never seen a drama before where the writing/acting basically tells you the lead made the wrong choice.

I don't even know how to describe what I'm feeling right now. I thought I'd feel different, but then that last episode.... That last scene between them was real love. I genuinely wonder if the actors read the script and were like, "Wait why?" It seemed like even they knew it should be go differently.

No spoilers! I didn't hide this because I want people to know the ending is just....wrong. And the drama knows it. Bizarre.

Love is not only about who makes your heart beat. That is passion not love. Chalam is all that Tantawan wish Peng…
Omg, I saw your comment and was like, "Psh, I love who she ended up with, I'm not going to feel this way."

And then ep 16 happened and I was like...omg, you are 100% right. I haven't felt an ending to a drama was so WRONG in a long time. Even when the ending is upsetting, I haven't felt like the lead made the WRONG choice. Maybe it's the chemistry between the actors, but..that parting scene through the wall. Are you kidding me? That was real love right there.

I'm so so so disappointed, and all your reasoning is exactly why. FML, I almost wish they'd do a second series so they could fix that disaster of a choice.

Man, I'm binging this right now, and I love a lot of it but does Paebii/Bamii ever go away? Good God she's annoying and she has zero chemistry with Peng. I hope she isn't some kind of consolation prize. I hate those.

At which episode will it start picking up? I'm currently only at Episode 3 and in truth I'm needing some motivation…
I'd agree around 5 plot wise, but the real turn over is in ep 7. GREAT scenes, and the follow up in 8 absolutely slayed me. Ji Chang Wook is hilarious!

That's a really great point, and perfectly describes what I'm seeing. I've been watching lakorns for years, so none of it surprises me. Like, yes, I know it's problematic, but I have issues and these are themes I often enjoy in fiction.

But I'm honestly happy to see so many people - especially younger girls - calling it out for what it is. It shows that they're a lot more aware of how this sort of thing is unacceptable, to the point that they're not even fantasizing about it. Tharn's behavior may not be literally and legally rape, but it shows major red flags. No one should get into a relationship with someone who will not respect the boundaries they set. I did that myself in my 20s and ended up with two abusers in a row.

Title Melting Me Softly Spoiler
based on past ji chang wook dramas, i HIGHLY doubt the lead kisses will stay "innocent mochi". mi ran kissed dong…
to this point: he later says it was the first time a woman ever kissed him. Remember, he's from the 90s in Korea. The culture was WAY different. He was obviously taken aback by the very notion of a women initiating a kiss.

Also, that aaaaawful fantasy scene from the slf shows that we'll definitely be getting way better kisses from our leads. (ugh I have to wash my brain out with bleach - the actress they cast looks like she'd be his mom in a chaebol drama)
On Melting Me Softly Oct 21, 2019
It's a freaking romcom. Don't expect the most tight, clever plot, good Lord.

I've been loving this drama. The 90s references are definitely for the older crowd, and I appreciate the heck out of them! Ji Chang Wook is hilarious, and so is Shim Hyung Tak (how can he be so handsome and yet so so ridiculous at the same time). Sure, the plot is...shaky, at best, but I'm okay with that. I came here for the slow burn chemistry and the overall hilarity. I'm satisfied so far, and it's really picking up steam now. Look forward to more!

Can you imagine: that fake kiss being the best kiss of the whole drama since they're portraying the main couple…
They...just almost died. They don't have enough energy for much else lol

"The fact that bothers me the most is that, if the same scene happened between a boy and a girl, no one would have discussed the fact that it's a rape"

The same situation happens in Boy For Rent twice. I've not seen anyone talking about that lol.

But it's good that you're so aware of it! The scene IS problematic and of questionable consent, but is not actually rape. Type pushed him away once, then allowed it to continue. He was 100% on board for the rest.

No it wasn’t if type didn’t want it he could have used more force to get Tharn to stop and even after they…
This honestly isn't surprising. It's Thai drama. Forceful pra'eks are nearly expected. If you think this is bad, don't watch actual Lakorns. Even the straight ones often have scenes of rape or near-rape.

I'm not saying it's okay, I'm just saying that the writers knows *exactly* what they're doing, and culturally it's not necessarily seen as rare (granted rape is never considered okay - but it's more of a slight that can be forgiven, than an irredeemable crime).

Gosh don't watch Thai lakorn then. Some of them are like 15 episodes but each episode is two hours long o_O
Oh man, I remember thinking Lakorn length was insane (though yeah, I totally watch them lol), then I started Turkish dramas, which are OVER 2 HOURS PER EPISODE!

And seriously, the time still flies by lol

Title Boy for Rent
I don't tend to leave negative feedback, but I think criticism is important for improvement, so here goes:

Half of this drama was great, and half of it was totally skippable and often boring or awkward. I LOVED Fon and Mond (Smile/Badz) in this. Their chemistry was phenomenal and their story was fun, with just the right amount of drama. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of Lee Thanat (Kyro), and I've never seen him have so little chemistry with an actress. Even the kissing scenes - something he excels at - were terrible. I don't know if Aye (Liz) wasn't comfortable doing more or what, but she just mostly stayed still, even in scenes where she was supposedly enjoying it. Neither of the characters were very sympathetic, and the romance wasn't remotely believable. It would've been better if they wouldn't have ended up together, because it seemed like Liz was just a selfish person desperate for attention, and her sad family situation didn't make me feel any more empathetic towards her. Kyro was a bit more interesting, but because Lee's chemistry was so good with Fon, as opposed to Aye, his feelings just weren't believable.

Anyway, I'm hoping for better roles for Lee Thanat in the future, and I'm glad Mond got his chance to really shine. I'd still recommend this drama, if only for Smile and Badz story. I just wish we got more focus on them and a more fleshed out plot to enjoy.

Title TharnType
The drama has done an amazing job in portraying the final scene between Tharn and Type at the end of the first…
I wish we had upvoting here, because this response deserves to be at the top. That is EXACTLY how I felt about the scene. It reminded me a bit of the scene in Judgement, where it there is no doubt as to what is going on is wrong, but it's also very sensual and creates conflicted feelings.

As a slap/kiss fan, I'm used to assault being treated quite lightly, but in this I don't feel like that was the case at all. It felt real, more than anything.

Thiiiis. Veekit was one of my favorite pra'eks ever due to his sweet nature and unwavering support of Moonin/Moontra. Ever since I heard about this one I've been planning to avoid it until it's finished to hear how it goes. Veekit being swayed by anyone makes no sense, unless the whole thing is just one big misunderstanding - I mean, it looks like there's going to be another man to cause more confusion too, and that I could see being a real problem, since Veekit snapped in the original over her supposed promiscuity with other men.

http://bitterkisses.com/It's being subbed very slowly here at this fansite, so have patience.
While it may be disappointing, we should always remember that fansubbers are merely voluntary and we shouldn't put any unfair expectations on them. That being said, BK just finished the series.

Finally stumbled on this one, and I have to say, it's an unexpected gem! I knew I was going in to a low budget independent film, so I was worried about how well the actors would pull it off, but I was pleasantly surprised! The fight choreos were really well down and our lead couple had some pretty great chemistry. I really adored that first love scene, lol, it was so awkward and 100% believable. I loved how, despite falling all over the place, they were still fully into it.

If found the characters really endearing. I do think that some of the supporting actors could use a bit polishing. Blank Panther was great, but Black Rose could've used a bit more intensity at times, though his more threatening moments came through really well.

I did find myself invested in the story, and the stakes felt very real. The end had me so nervous for our precious couple! I really loved the end.

Anyway, to wrap this up - great job cast and crew! I hope to see more diverse stories like this coming out of Korea. It's so rare, and usually when it does happen, it's some sprawling depressing tragedy. It's nice to mix it up and give us something happy for once.

Since this is still ongoing, does the original one have a happy ending or not??
I can't say for absolutely sure, but from everything I've read about the original over the years, I'm pretty sure it's a happy ending.
