Quick question if we are the female lead what would we have done would we choose not to forgive him for a short…
I won't forgive him easily. Doesn't mean I'd deliberately hurt him either. Especially if I know to myself that I like him. I might ask for space and time like any normal person lied to would. And if I was someone unsure whether he likes the me he knows and the me that he doesn't, I can use the time I asked for to assess if he can love me both ways. Cause at the end of the day, I am both, and not one or the other.
Yeah, he should've locked her up in prison for colluding with Lu Wen and ambushing his troops after a truce was…
You took the words out of my mouth. I mean he isn't spotless clean but I don't think there's a need to make it a case as if he wasn't doing it primarily for the safety of his people. Wanting to marry LMT despite parental repudiation, is just a bonus good reason why he is a better character than most in the series. It's not necessarily something CXZ supporters use to redeem him, if in fact there's a very grave deed he has done to warrant redemption in the first place. Aside from putting her out there as bait (which would mean villain will show up and he catches the villain and lets her go), he mostly made sure she was taken care of and is safe.
What ๐ฎhe lied to her about every damn thing in their relationship, finally karma is getting him .๐คทโโ๏ธ๐ฌ๏ธ๐ช๐ช๐ช๐ช
That's a tough endeavor considering he is kind of likeable regardless. ๐ I'm leaning more on doing house chores until episodes have built up (to the point of them meeting again in a positive way) before I watch again. That or I'm lying to myself. ๐

To be fair, him lying to her was for the best interest of a larger group of people and a defense mech for his own safety. Originally he wasn't sure when she was going to be triggered to remember anything and in case she does, it was wise to have kept things the way he did. Although it was also a fact that he used her as bait (cause why not if you have the opportunity to utilize what you have to defeat an enemy? Note that I am not condoning his actions, but even early on, he did say he was going to give her money and have her live a peaceful life at a temple), it is also true that his feelings for her (once he realized it) is genuine and it shows in his gestures despite his attempts to stop himself from extending them. Let's also not look away from the FL's actions towards him when she remembered everything. She was already serving him karma even before she left him. ๐ To begin with, she has an idea that a 3rd party was responsible for breaking their truce, he doesn't. So her deliberately making him suffer after the fact is just rude. But hey, to each his own.

I'm afraid we have no way of knowing the reason. ๐ I'm sure he'll get around it soon. Though that doesn't make me less apprehensive about his upcoming series with Ren Min.

I liked their chem in IKILY too. As personal preference though, I like ZWY more on contemporary dramas that don't focus much on romance. For period dramas, I'm quite okay with romance part as focus though I'd love it more if there's balance of politics and action stuff too. xD

The way I was so confused about how this thread went on. ๐ From what I gathered, the ML in Have a Crush on You (who isn't ZWY) played the role well but that his character is (written) bad and the adaptation itself is problematic. It's that or I understood it wrong. ๐
As for I Know I Love You, while it isn't ZWY's best contemporary drama, it was refreshing to see him in a romantic modern set up. It wasn't bad either. As for ZWY in general, I think I already have a bias considering the amount of hours I spent watching him in different dramas. ๐
At least there's a consistency to CXZ, once he loves someone, their past doesn't matter. He's still protecting…
I'm okay with CXZ loving LMT the way he does. I mean that it's deep. But please, I hope they don't make him a weak person. That's not how his character was built in the beginning of the series. Granted, there should be changes as it's the first time he's loving someone (romantically), but the change shouldn't be too off from his character.
lol same ๐ I do the exact same thing! I just can't seem to get into their storyline. Letโs hope weโre not…
There's nothing much to be missed (I didn't forward). But I haven't read the novel so I'm not sure how those scenes will be significant in the future. Sometimes, you just get surprised that the miniscule detail actually affects the bigger picture. If that's the case, they typically give nod to it by mentioning or a flashback of the scene happens so you can just trace what you skipped I guess. ๐
He literally saved her life and nursed her back to health and tried his best to do the right things despite the…
Agreed. I don't want CXZ to grovel. I did not read the novel but at least from what I've been watching, I don't see any reason that warrants his groveling. If anything, Miantang should, if the adaptation would push the plot towards the idea that she deliberately left him because she was lied to and not because she was smart enough to understand the situation. However, if I'm just looking into seeing ZWY play the part of a groveling man, then yes, I'm all for it. Otherwise, I just really don't see why CXZ has to. Then again, regarding opinions, to each his own.
Idk, they can separate them for a while and for a purpose but please, I just don't want them turning CXZ into a simp in the next episodes. That would be awful.
Unsolicited recommendation for ZWY: โข Awakening Age (note that he isn't main here) โข The Bond (love this a lot) โข Fantastic Doctors (if you have seen The Good Doctor Kor or Eng ver, this is the Chinese ver)
These are the ones I've finished aside from LYF. The ones I've listed will give you different vibes of him as each of these are different genre of dramas. ๐
To be fair, I don't think LYF is his best either (though I love Cang Xuan). His role as Chen Yannian in Awakening Age, to me, is still superior. As to whether he justifies the characters he was and is given or not, I think he was able to approximate them all, if not perfect them. It's just sad that he's getting negative evaluation as CXZ when he's actually doing fine. Not his best, but still refreshing.
I guess aside from chemistry, it's just that we're presented with two smart main characters that it's a fun watch. And while the pace was slow in the beginning, I actually appreciated it. Especially since they're focusing more on the romace aspect of it than the politics (although politics is a close second in terms of focus). I don't like it when I'm asking "how did they end up liking each other?" as I watch especially when it's a 40ep drama where they're given enough time to build on particular relationships they want everyone to root for. As for WCR, this is the first time I'm watching her. I went on to watch the series without expectations on her. So I'm kind of just enjoying seeing two beautiful people sharing the same screen when they have a scene together. xD
Transferred. ๐
