I've seen quite a few posts on Weibo towards the end of the drama where the casual viewers were praising the UL…
I hope so too. I also heard that Dylan has a non-celeb gf, while Shen Yue is with Sun Ning. If that's true, then I'm very happy for them, as well as it's hopeless to wish they were a couple irl (which is very stupid even if they were both single).
And those ‘fans’ who think that Dylan and Shen Yue are a couple are middle-aged and yet insist that they are real or a couple (that's what I've seen). Whereas those who are my age or are a lil older or younger act more maturely than them! I feel so old and I'm gonna be 19 in few months lol😂

Same! Dylan gets along well with all of his costars. Characters should be shipped, not actors. And even if actors are shipped, then it should only be casual, not in a serious, fanatic and creepy way.
The UL fandom is an example of a healthy fandom.

I agree! Dyshen cp fans in a nutshell (and some of Esther Yu's fans).

I strongly agree. What keeps me engrossed with this drama is the unique storyline and characters. They are not…
True. It's not a very bad drama imo, pretty decent, but it has an interesting script. I like the cast here, it seems like almost all the actors are made for their roles.
I'll have to say, the emperor, when he was showing himself as a meek lantern-making prince, made me cringe a lot. But after episode 13 I realized that he's a manipulator and a creep! Peter Ho is excellent.

Some ppl said this drama was heavily censored because of sensitive topic about eunuch and consort dowager love…
The Princess Fukang one it what I've probably seen somewhere on YouTube, but thanks for the compilation. Wish censorship wasn't that strict but it's not under our control either. So let's just enjoy (or at least watch) the drama the way it is.

Tbh I wasn't so captivated by UL because I kept comparing it to Love Between Fairy nd Devil, but the further I'm going, the more interesting it's becoming. Just ignore the illogical parts in ep 15 (at least, cuz I only watched up till here) and there you go. The emperor, Xiao Duo and Bu Yinlou's smartness are really carrying the show.

is this good? gonna watch for didi
I've watched till episode 15, and it's pretty interesting. Except for some suspension of logic in episode 15, i.e. https://kisskh.at/profile/EshaLee/feeds/rJd2QI5 but overall it's an enjoyable watch if you like Dylan Wang or you just want a light drama. I'm pretty upset that they cut a lot of scenes but the makers have no other option as censorship is very strict.

After that speech, I vote Wanwan to be Empress and rule them all.

The more I watch, the more the emperor character development doesn't make sense. He can't just go from a sniveling…
Bro the emperor is manipulative. This "im very weak" tactic is a manipulative one.

Reading this after LBFAD, I'd say that Wang Hedi was WASTED.
Yuchi Longyan wasn't a layered character at all! Most of the time he was a walking statue. He did show some amount of expressions with Xue Qianxun and Qing Qing.
This was a pretty decent drama, coming from a non-Chinese perspective (though ethnically, I'm mixed race, Indian and Chinese, but I'm born and raised in India so, unfortunately, idk mandarin, but I'm learning it now) and as a WHD fan. I survived it for just WHD, although I'd say that I cringed a lot. Yk why.
Apart from the second couple and the twist, what saved the show for me was the bromance between Yuchi Longyan and Xue Qianxun (who had much more chemistry than him and Bambi) and Qing Qing catching them in intimate positions (which made me ROTFL), Xue Qianxun, Qing Qing and Yuchi Longyan as a trio which was hilarious, as well as the third lifetime, which I find the most interesting because Liu Ying wasn't only a damsel in distress, a trope annoyingly used in this drama, and that her being a general in this lifetime was quite refreshing to me.
However, Yuchi Longyan is my least favorite Dylan Wang character, for the reasons I mentioned. I heard that because of covid, the filming was extremely rushed (65 days omg!), and hence the drama is kinda the way it is. But it doesn't justify the extremely lazy writing and direction (the director was a newbie, his first drama). I feel that the producers only cast WHD as an eye candy than a REAL character. Hence, this grossly underutilized his potential. Thankfully, LBFAD came and it saved him (more than that, it was his break). I can't blame WHD in MTD because he just did his job. He was very natural in The Rational Life (which began filming after MTD) and gave strong performances in Meteor Garden (or he was way more expressive) and Ever Night 2 (just watched some clips of it). But nothing can top Dongfang Qingang for sure! The LBFAD crew worked their entire butts of to make this drama a masterpiece, while that of MTD didn't work at all lol 😂

I always respect her opinions, but yeah she did do problematic things, like pushing Zhang Zhehan to the dark when 813 happened, as well as spreading misleading info on the matter. I was one of her subscribers and was a fan of her content. It's sad that she turned out to be problematic. No interest afterwards, after unsubscribing straightaway.
I just saw her CLJ reviews out of curiosity (because I was worried for Wang Hedi but thankfully she praised him) and I mosly agreed with her views, and was pretty happy when she praised it because CLJ is my favourite drama as well. However, in her CLJ livestream, she LITERALLY mocked Didi's strong Sichuan accent when he speaks Mandarin, or Didi's Mandarin as a whole, which to me is unacceptable. It's justified that period dramas need a "Beijing traditional accent" and her saying that he needs a good director and his dubbing artist is great is acceptable (as he still needs guidance), but she didn't need to ridicule his Mandarin! I'm happy that he's learning and improving his mandarin, but she shouldve just said that he needs to work on his mandarin and he has a strong accent but no! So I stopped watching her again as I found that to be quite haughty of her to do that (and the fact that she SAID that she's from Chongqing makes it all the more disgusting).

And not just that, before this happened, she dissed Lin Gengxin's northeast accent in Master Of My Own, calling it "almost a mental torture to watch this drama" as well as calling it "terrible". Well, I havent watched this drama, but one of the commentators pointed i out that Lin Gengxin's character is from the northeast, so his accent is justified!

While I respect whatever opinion, however, there is a fine line between giving opinions and being straight up disrespectful. Thanks for reading my long rant.

On Dylan Wang Sep 4, 2022
Person Dylan Wang
Just got to know that all his characters are dubbed. I hope Didi uses his own voice in a drama (might take a few years for that), or he's given the role where he plays a Sichuanese character. That wouldn't be much of an accent problem since he's from Sichuan himself.
Really wish that dubbing isn't that prominent, and that actors are allowed to have accents instead of moulding themselves into Beijing traditional Mandarin accent.
