GPY should have known about the tea merchants' association though. Even with his nose in his books, growing up in a tea growing village, he should have been familiar with them if only in passing. It feels like a plot hole that I can't get past.

He really is! He plays a thankless character of unknown morals from a future enemy power, yet makes Hart quite likable. And yes, the cast list is a hot mess.

I'd say there's deeply felt and well-acted romantic love in the show between at least two pairs of supporting characters. They're really touching to see.

Unlike what seems to be the consensus in the comments, I'm not on board with the GPY/CYE pairing. The character is too young for him and the actress is not selling it for me, especially compared to the rest of the cast.

If Gu & Miss Sun were on the same side, they would have made for one helluva power couple - equally matched & unstoppable. Alas.

I'm on episode 5 now and goodness, this show is well-written & acted. The dialogue between Li père & fils in the family treasury is chef's kiss. I almost stood up and applauded.

I'm a bit confused by the end: I realize that he had a fake birth certificate, but is Shulin the prince or not? Episode 28 had too many unnecessary twists for me to keep up with.

I think Amazon Prime made a mistake with episode 7 - the right subtitles, but the wrong episode. I had to watch it "elsewhere". Then episode eight was correct.

I almost missed this show due to the low rating on Amazon Prime. I'm glad I stuck with it; I'm enjoying it so far.

That child is not right in the head and Commander Li needs to run far away and fast even if it's guarding the border in the frozen north. It would be safer and more comfortable.

I much prefer this kind of drama to the ones with the pretty people who fall in love but say they haven't for over 20 episodes. Plus veteran actors are so much better than the younger ones.

Why does the princess shout so much? Is it an affect from performing in the theatre? Is it how nobility spoke in that era?

Such a cute little show. I didn't expect to enjoy it so much.

The last half of the series was electrifying!

Fu Meng Po as Chang Shih Kai was extremely compelling. I really hated myself for enjoying the character so much.

A family watch only where everyone is 18+.

This is quite a riveting portrayal of the underbelly of Joseon society. The levels of corruption & misery are absolutely staggering.

I dislike the fight scenes and the slow pace. Since it's only eight episodes, I will probably watch the whole thing, but it's not shaping up to be one of the greats in supernatural storytelling.

I agree. The entire last act of episode 6 was the heroes and victims of the story acting stupid. It was so exasperating that I couldn't even bring myself to care anymore.
