Both of her parents are quite silly so it's not surprising she was willful & immature. However, she was also brave & fiercely loyal. She probably would have made for a great soldier in another life.

Lady Du actress is fine - not everyone can be Li Meng - but it was too long of a monologue and not enough for her to carry a whole 15 minutes of the episode. It wasn't terrible, just not great and way too much exposition that didn't clarify all that well either. Again, no shade on the actress. She did a very good job in the quieter moments being two-faced & manipulative.

The battle scene wasn't clearly set up. I kept going back to see what I missed but couldn't find it.

Episode 18 was the first one in the series I really didn't enjoy at all. The denouement of the poisoning felt poorly written & contrived. I'm glad it's over and still looking forward to the rest of the series though.

Maybe time zone difference nixes the dinner party idea, but more checking in on a sick friend with an abusive family is warranted.

They look like they're about 10-12 years apart, but He Ran behaves much younger. I'm only on episode three & so far I find her mannerisms too childish to be attractive. Let's hope it gets better or I'll have to drop this one.
