I mean this is master student love drama. What do you expect? And regarding kissing, it's more on the drama policy and what the director want. Julia has no issue with kissing. You actually can see better kisses in the BTS. I don't see problem with her age when she can pull out both characters as the story required. In fact if an older actress play RR, she might not pull off the character will will get bashed for it. The actual story would more disturbed because instead of her crushing on him like they did in the drama, it's the master can't control his emotion due to the Spirit Spring that he always kisses and hugs her without consents. That's the novel for you.
Thinking of the overall story you will understand why this part is necessary. This is when RR get to know the real SYS and how much he has changed due to his love and guilt for her.
In this drama it's necessary and also quite entertaining though.
It's necessary like I said. In the drama it's for her to understand his real self without burden and guilt and how much he has changed to please/love her. In the novel it's for her to ensure that he actually loves her in whatever form she is because NN in the novel never recover the memory. :)

Well it's ok to have opinion and it's ok to not understand the story or its message as well. Without the male lead amnesia plot, RR will not understand the male lead for who he really is. Because he has been living just to pay her debt since he meet her. If she never recover her MGQ memories, RR would be so sure if he really loves her for who she is or just because she is MGQ's reincarnation. that's what happened in the novel. This plot make sure RR/MQG understand him better as well as know how much he has changed for her. It also ensures the audience know that he will love her regardless of whether he has his memories or what identity she has

If you watch the drama you will understand why she isn't as powerful nor get her full memories back. And "strong" doesn't only mean physical strong. XRR is one better female lead in c-drama land. In fact XRR is younger MQG with different life experience and much less cultivation time...
