While he did show affection as XL, it was rarely shown directly. What he mostly did were the opposite. But with him as FFB, he was really good towards XY, especially in the novel. He took her to see and experience a lot of things like a couple would. It’s like living a life he could have had had he not been adopted by HJ. I think in a way XL took solace in FFB, which is why it’s heartbreaking.

I totally agree with this. XL gave all he could give to XY, even making her breathe underwater it’s like technically giving her his home.

In the novel XY was much more devastated than the drama. And don’t forget it was XL who saved TSJ and gave him his happy ending.

Now everytime I think back on those times when XL posed as FFB, I couldn’t help feeling so sad for him. He could only show his affection for XY as another person, never as himself. I am so hung up on his death

I find the best XY XL scene was episode 17 S1 where XL turned himself into a woman and really was being shameless on the boat. He clearly was enjoying it and let himself wander into his feelings for a moment, in which he would never be able to show as XL. But after he knew that WXL was Haoling Princess, he knew it was doomed love. And XY had to reject him and said he wasn’t the type that girls would like. My poor XL

XL’s death really broke me, but I’m glad A Nian gave XY XL’s doll and told her to bring it wherever she goes. At least whatever is left of him will forever be close to where his heart is.

Wow, her mom is extremely bossy and demanding, exactly like a lot of older generation Asian mom’s mentality. It’s really tiring to keep hearing a mother nag on filial piety and shame her daughter like she did, on the basis that she did everything for her daughter’s sake. And she’s so materialistic to the point of being shameless

So XZ is just extremely jealous and annoyed that SL is surrounded by many men. In Ep. 11 he CLEARLY couldn’t wait to live together with SL again, unfortunately FR came and after that up until ep. 14 his face was always so sour. And he CLEARLY viewed MF as his #1 contender.

There are 2 endings, the original sad ending and the happy ending. In the SE, they both died. The HE, TTJ somehow made it back and they reunite. The kid was probably conceived when SS was pretending to be a servant and TTJ slept with her (knowing all along it was her).

Actresses can change their voices too. It’s just a tone higher or lower but the base voice unique to them is always there. I’m sure it’s her original voice for all her characters.

Both TTJ and SS died saving each other.

Ancient Love Poetry is by far the best to me. This one is also good though, just not liking the weird characters behind each of the Gods. It isn’t really necessary

No, Bai Lu’s voice is her real voice. If you’ve seen Love is Sweet (it’s their other drama together), she isn’t dubbed.

100 days and SJ spent maybe half of it avoiding him and he was busy with his army and battles.

His life is so pitiful 😭 I’ve never read a novel with such a pitiful character before. I don’t know if the tomb scene will be included in the drama or not, but holy crap, I cried rivers when he had to pretend SS loved him and carved his own tomb next to hers.

It’s the immortal arc ending that is similar to MY’s way. I probably shouldn’t have said they’re connected with the final ending because the dream arc is an independent consciousness. But both TTJ and SS walked the same path that MY and SJ did. The way one will die to save the other is the same.

And yes, part of why TTJ sacrificed himself is SS’s wish for peace (meaning TTJ HAD to die for peace to happen), but I find part of it is also because TTJ seeked for SS’s validation cause she was the only person he cared about. What she thought of him mattered a lot to him.

The next episode is still about the dream, so maybe they will elaborate more but I’m guessing they are building the backstory of how the Lord Demon was sealed and not on SJ and MY. Because in the novel, the perspective was from SJ, she did mention there was a war for many years, but novel did not go in details at all on the war.
