Great point comparing with FJM. That was a heartbreak indeed where the greatness and sacrifice for the country/realms…
I know right. For you to still be alive but cannot be with your loved one is an even worse torture. It’s not just angsty, it’s tragic!
On Immortal Samsara: Part 2 Sep 8, 2022
To me the extra episodes felt more like alternate endings that could happen if they get their what ifs. But I felt YY was ready not to come back at all when he chose to sacrifice himself. I totally feel YD’s devastation. She was heartbroken that YY could never be free from his responsibilities even till his death, no matter how he wished he could. Him not becoming Dijun anymore is almost impossible, that was his wishful thinking. But YD already knew this from the start, hence she kept wavering every time YY approached her again. YY’s responsibility mirrored Fang Jianming in Novoland Pearl Eclipse. That one also has the same heartbreaking end. Even though they are alive but they cannot be freely together. So after FJM left the palace and lead his own life with FHS, when there is another war coming, he couldn’t just ignore and not care. In the end he came back again to support the emperor. Same goes with YY. So the heaven will still bind them and be shackles to the peaceful life that they wished to get. That’s why for me personally, episode 59 is a beautiful end to their love story. Not every love story needs to get together for a happy ending. If they could, that’s even better. But what mattered is they are together in the end.

I don’t get why you blame the plot when it was you who failed to connect the dots. There is no new plot at all in IS, everything is connected from start to finish. If you still didn’t get the plot yet, let me help and explain it.

The reason why YY went to the mortal world was because after the war, some demons escaped to the mortal world. He wanted to investigate more about the war but to avoid raising suspicions from the enemy, he went under the disguise of punishment. YY was supposed to retain his memory to do the investigation, but someone tampered it. That’s why as Tang Zhou he did not remember anything. Along the way someone kept trying to kill him because this person did not want him to return to the heavens. He was injured and needed to collect 4 artifacts to save himself and continue living his life as Tang Zhou. Because if YY died as Tang Zhou, he would perish. YD did what she did to save him. And one of those demons who escaped to the mortal world was Liu Weiyang. His real identity was Xuan Xiang, the Demon Lord who initiated the war with the heaven due to Tao Ziqi’s manipulation. These 2 people have already appeared at the start of the story, so they’re not newly introduced villains. Tao Ziqi is Huan Qin’s lover but pretended to fall in love with Xuan Xiang, for the purpose of him initiating the war so Huan Qin can carry out his plan to kill the other Dijuns to absorb their powers and become the heavenly ruler. After that, Huan Qin kidnapped YD and threatened to kill all of YD’s friends at Yelan Mountain, so YY was forced to give away his divine powers to save them. He became weaker and around this time, the Asura guy (I forgot his name), transferred all his powers and cultivation to awaken YY’s Asura blood. When the restrain was lifted, the Supreme Majesty’s primordial spirit that was put in YY to suppress the Asura blood returned to the owner, and the barrier between the heaven and demon realm was destroyed when this Asura power awakened. In the end YY chose to sacrifice himself to recreate the barrier to bring peace between the two worlds. Without the barrier they will always fight. So he died a noble cause.

I know there are many things that happened in between all these things that may make us forget the details, but YY wasn’t supposed to just be Tang Zhou and meet YD there, you know? This is also the reason why when he returned to the heaven, those people who wanted to bring him down cornered him about his purpose of going to the mortal world. Because by tampering his memory they have a reason to slander him and made it seem like he went for love. And YY couldn’t directly expose Huan Qin’s crimes because he lacked evidence.

Anyways, I respect your opinion, people have different preferences and what’s engaging for them, but I hope this cleared your confusion about the “new plot”. Cheers!

What the hell was this mess. I waited tortuously for 59 eps! I don’t know what I just watch. What did I just…
This is a classic xianxia drama, so torturous love and tortured viewers are expected. Lol! The ending in episode 59 shocked me too, but with the 2 extras, I am pretty satisfied with how it ended. I don’t mind to be tortured by CY. He’s damn good at torturing us so far 🤣

Yeah, I also think something is going on between those two. The way they looked at each other is suspicious.

Yeah, his hairstyle also the same. I was like I’ve seen him looking like this, then I realized it was his dream. Lol After all they went through, I’m glad YY had his wish come true

Three minutes episode ,, they can be oblique not actual episodes they didn't say how they are alive or whose kid…
It’s very common for xianxia characters to be reborn again, as long as a bit of their primordial spirit managed to be kept. YD kept YY’s primordial spirit in her, and I guess the lotus incense burner is connected to YY in a way, that’s why the ending in episode 59 showed both of them returning to the burner.

That kid is Goudan, the same kid in YY’s dream while he was in Land Under the Horizon. Goudan is their son.

After watching the 2 mini episodes, I sort of have the closure needed for me to move on. 🥹😀 It doesn’t…
They reincarnated as immortals but YY was no longer Dijun. They live in the mortal world. In IS arc unless they committed grave mistake, they will not be reborn as mortals. They still have a chance to reincarnate as immortals, as long as a bit of their primordial spirit managed to be kept.

I take a break too after finished love between fairy and devil. After LBFAD immortal samsara not that nice anymore.…
I’m the opposite of you. I lost interest in LBFAD towards the end, it was 7/10 for me.Last 2 episodes were disappointing to me, I couldn’t even rewatch. But I love IS and its overall plot. They maintain the classic xianxia elements which I love.

IS is classic xianxia, so misery is neccesary.

I’m rewatching, and in episode 4, YY told Ying Deng not to touch his people. He already claimed YD as his, he must have fallen for her.

And episode 9, YD is wiping YY’s face with a rag?? The audacity! Lmao

Please tell me Yo Mo and dragon princess end up together or not in novel
YD chose YM, because she realized YM have been by her side all along. The drama followed closely on YM’s character, he was also very affectionate towards YD in the novel. YY wished to start over with YD but it was too late.

I read a machine translated version, and it was confusing in some parts due to bad translation. I don’t think Dragon girl even existed.

If you want a lighter story than IS, you can give this a try. I personally prefer IS than this after I finished…
Oh, you mean Gu Jun? GJ cultivated SG’s spirit for 60.000 years and by then he has reached his Godly power too so it’s more believable that SG was able to retain her powers without having to recultivate.

Anyway, I agree with you. If budget is the problem, then no matter how good the script it, sometimes it couldn’t deliver its fullest potential. I never have a problem watching longer episodes, because I enjoy walking down the journey with the characters and feel their growth every step of the way.

I’ve seen ALP. Now that you mentioned it, do you remember after SG’s seal was broken, she went down to that demon realm for a thousand years to hone her skills? Only then the great powers she was born with was solidified. BJ kept telling her to learn because that is the only way to sharpen her skills. That is exactly how it should be, not like in XLH case where she gets everything easy. No Gods or Goddesses obtain powers without doing anything. Some were born with the EXTRA POTENTIAL, but still they need to cultivate and learn. It’s just like a child going to school to learn, you know? No genius is a genius without the learning part. What makes them different is they have higher intelligence than the average and are able to grasp concepts in a way that others couldn’t, but it does not mean they do not need to learn. So this is basic cultivation rule that they need to stick if they’re going to go down the xianxia path.

And you cannot assume XLH already cultivated such high powers when she was only around 8 years old because they’re only showing her sealing part and nothing about her cultivation as a child. So there is this blatant hole in her character that viewers should accept no matter how much we like it. I seriously loved the first half of the series, but this is something that I couldn’t ignore because it just didn’t make sense. If they made this series just a few episodes longer, I wouldn’t even be making this comment. I had high expectations for this show, but it didn’t deliver.

CLJ is still a story that surrounds immortals and the thing with immortals is they need to cultivate no matter what powers they possess. It has always been like that with all immortal characters. Cultivation level is still the basis of how powerful an individual is. The more one build his/her cultivation, the more powerful they are. Cultivation can be used up, destroyed or given away (like how RH saved CH) at the expense of becoming weaker. So cultivation does not always stay at the same level, it depends on how the individual manages it. The thing that I find weird and fake with XLH’s power is exactly this. As XLH she wasn’t able to cultivate properly due to damaged form. And when she was sealed as the Goddess, she was only a young child. Like how powerful can she be at that age? Yes she was born with potential superior power amongst her clan people, but it did not mean cultivation is not needed. You can say they study medicines, you get that from books. Healing powers can come from blood and also cultivation. But purifying evil needs cultivation, period. That’s how it has always been for mages in xianxias. So no matter how I look at it, it didn’t make sense for her to possess such great powers based on her circumstances. The parents only sealed her away, it wasn’t mentioned that they give her their powers. So where did all these powers come from if not just to save her character? I knew from the start this reawakening was the turning point for her character, either they make it good for her or not. I was quite worried about it, and what I dreaded really did come true. For me personally, she went downhill at that point. I also cannot digest her sudden behaviour change either. From someone who behaved like a child/teenager two thirds of the story, she suddenly became all mature and selfless in the blink of an eye just because she regained her sealed memory. She understood her original destiny, yes, but for such a drastic change happening under a few minutes of screen time is unconvincing for me, especially prior to the awakening she did not give a damn about who she is and was so invested in love and fought to be with DFQC. I’m sorry but I’m not buying this kind of superficial telling.

The message CLJ brought for peace, unity and love is endearing, but a lot of dramas also show this kind of trope in their own ways. I just could not find any solid ground to glorify XLH’s character. Not that I hated her, she had her own charms and uniqueness but I just couldn’t jump into her bandwagon.
