Just watched up to ep 12 Eng sub. Love the chemistry between ML & FL. Love the eye communication between ML & FL. How FL seek ML support and how ML knowledge FL and gave her his support in mutual agreement like a united front of husband & wife in front of everyone. Love how sharp and smart both of them are and able to understand the underlining hints said between them.

If Hou Ye got to know the reality of how Concubine Qiao orchestra the kidnapped his Wife, she would have been punished and kicked out mercilessly.

I really want to slap that witch Qiao for being so wicked as to make use the child.

Just finished watching this drama. Love the cinematography, the music score, fighting scene, storyline. All the actors did such a wonderful job. Definitely a must watch drama.

If I'm not wrong, he stayed away from home after his 1st wife died. He did come home a few times but he never bedded any of his women for a whole year. Concubine Qiao was anxious about it because she was hoping to win his favour n sleep with him at least before he marries ShiYi.

As ML said to his mom, the concubines only want him for something. If they expect nothing from him but show care and concern as well as live peacefully with each other, he would behave differently with them. FL lives frugally despite being the wife and matron of the house and she wants nothing from him. Hahaha

He is now slowly warming up to her and vice-versa.

Oh yes. Ruyi and Yanxi are literally blood fights to the max.

Qiao sadly will become a very bitter person. She could have lead a better life if she didn't insists on marrying into the Xu household.

Women and children die very young. As seen from history records, lots of children died during infancy and women of childbirth. So a noble can have 5 concubine and 1 wife with 20 kids but only maybe 5 kids out of 20 survived to adulthood.

This is a period drama so it is expected that man of his noble status and age already has a wife and concubines by age of 26/27. Man of that era marry around 16-18 years old and girls around 12-14 years old are married off.

Hahaha...ML is typical male of that era. Avoid the bickering harem and being drag into it at all cost. He even hide himself at work just to avoid going home early and into the inferno. Hahaha .... but that kinda changed ever since he married FL. He even comes home early. I suspect he look forward to picking a bone or two with her just for amusement sake but left in a huff and anger when he lost his battle of wits with her. Hahaha

Hahaha .... if you think this is bad, watch some medieval drama ... the young princess (age around 12/13 years old) got married off to some old decaying King or lords for political purposes. That's even more disgusting. Anyway these sort of scenarios happened in real life in history and still happening in 2021 in some countries where they still practice child bride. Imagine the women in the past have no value at all. They were just pawns in man's world.

I think he loved his 1st wife initially and along the way he fell out of love with her when she started to change in personality. The conversation his 1st wife had with him before dying was very poignant. It shows that they did love each other but drifted apart to a point of indifference and resentment. Wife yearned for his attention and love by scheming for it while Husband slowly got turned off by her scheming and manipulation.

Now she's scheming to usurp the main wife but she ain't gaining any brownie points with ML.

I actually pity her at first. She being so naively in love with ML blindly since little just because she saw him playing the guzhen beautifully. He is married and she still willing to be his concubine. She threw herself at him at every opportunity which makes he really want to throw up each time he sees her. He refused to ruin her life by giving her a way out yet she wailed n cried saying she willing marry in like alow status maid. He himself knows that he won't be able to give her the love she is looking for. And also how can she warm his heart towards her when she devalues herself in front of him all the time? He is a cold man with a soft heart. He would slowly learn to give her some affection if she shows him that she is humble, kind and caring. With unwise advises from her maid, she did more damage. From the day she came to the manor, he hasn't even spent a night with her nor give her time of his day. Her switching out the fabric meant for his wife is something he will not tolerate. I feel so sorry for her that she marry him with shinning stars in her eyes, naive heart of a young girl's dream n slowly turning into a very bitter woman with a very bitter heart.

This actress is very good. I have seen her in other drama where she acted as a very sweet and happy girl. Totally hard to see her being a bitch at first but she really makes viewers seriously want to spit on her for being a two face witch. Hahaha

Totally agree. This only shows how good their chemistry is together that is able to evoke so much feelings from viewers and convinced viewers. Hahahaha

As YCY said to MingDao, they found a way to get along/know each other well through competitions ..they like to compete with each other and see who wins who. As we can see, they did have a quite a few cute battles through out the show.

I have watched some of the dramas you mentioned but I still enjoy watching this drama very much as it is. This drama is actually not bad. It's quite enjoyable and i don't regret watching it. Frankly I have watched worst. So this is still nice.
