You have to watch episode 34.5 to watch the final ending. It is indicated clearly that ZYZ will get revived. ZYC smiles when he looks at the malicious energy being reactivated again. And also his sword reacts to it like it would always glow when ZYZ was around. So it's an indication of ZYZ coming back to life even though not clearly shown.

If that is what he was aiming for, then it was a poor decision made by him. Doesn't he know season 2 is a rare phenomenon in C-drama world and also if by chance there is a possibility then the cast 95% of the time won't be available. So if that happens people wouldn't appreciate it. What a waste of such a good cast and production 🤦
