i think that in the end she went back in time just to be with him not to try and change anything.
she didn't even wanted to go back 10,000 years ago , but the 3 ancient demons don't like Hong Ye & want to kill him . so to find out what actually happened , so that she can find out the reason & solve their problem , that's why she went back ..
for me it's in between average & very good/excellent drama .. rating wise maybe 7.8/10 ..
Hou Ming Hao is a good actor , but the vibe of demon lord i feels missing .. in dramas in which ML is the demon , then i prefer Arthur Chen , Ao Rui Peng , Dylan Wang , Ryan Cheng .. maybe if Wang Duo [ Bing Zhu ] would have been the main ML than it's demon vibe would have different . but out of the names i have mentioned Arthur Chen is now currently my no. 1 preferred ML in demon main ML dramas after watching When Destiny Brings the Demon ..
coming to the story it's same type of happy ending where the ML will sacrifice himself & they will meet again in last 3-4 minutes before ending , but in this drama the style is different ..
in flashback it was shown that Ning An killed Hong Ye , & in the present time when Xiao Yao went back in time to get back Hong Ye's power she became Ning An & Xiao Yao knew that Ning An killed Hong Ye & still in the end Hong Ye still died & Xiao Yao couldn't prevent it even knowing what had happened & actually it was Xiao Yao as Ning An who killed Hong Ye because she was controlled using magic & she couldn't stop it which was shown in flashback but it still benefited her because she got his drop of tear & he was able to get back power in present time ..
when Xiao Yao went back 10000 years ago , at that time Hong Ye was human & Xiao Yao was a demon & still Xiao Yao during that time she had to stab & made him sleep for 5000 years . so in the end Xiao Yao learnt a technique where she can go specific time in the past as per her choice . so when she want back 1000 years ago she knew Hong Ye died in the past still she couldn't change that . when she went 10000 years ago she doesn't have any memory of that time but still she had to stab & make him sleep for 5000 years in the end . so in the finale episode when she went back in time , when she had to kill Hong Ye 2 times & couldn't change the timeline , so going back in the past in the finale how she can change the timeline & stop Hong Ye from sacrificing himself in the end ..

on top of that , when he saw SML & SFL kissing , he got sad & angry that SML & SFL are having affair & SML is cheating on FL , so ML decided to marry SFL quickly so that he can end the SML & SFL affair & FL doesn't get hurt & doesn't find about the affair .. but he forget the point that as per FL's lie when she kissed him & spending good time she was already married & that would have been also called as cheating😂 , but he was more concerned that as per him if FL finds about SML & SFL affair she would be heartbroken
what i am disappointed about Seon U character is that , for me he is good for nothing character . Seon U's character is not bad he is good , but still he is good for nothing character .. as per story Da Rim & Seon U are friends for many years & neighbours also & at the starting of the story when Da Rim had breakup & Da Rim's sister sponsored her island trip , Seon U had motivated her to move on & enjoy the vacation & told her she might find a good partner in the vacation & from that my first impression was that they were only good friends & Seon U doesn't have any romantic feelings for her which i haven't seen in k-drama where FL & SML are just best friends & doesn't have romantic feelings for each other .. but when Da Rim & Ji Hyeok feel in love & Da Rim told Seon U about her & Ji Hyeok & what is going on between them as she considers him as her good friend , then suddenly after so many years romantic feelings for Da RIm in Seon U popped up .. if he had actually romantic feelings for her he could have confessed to her long before , but as per story i don't think he had any romantic feels for her before .. but when Da Rim & Ji Hyeok & getting close & they love each then suddenly Seon U feel in love Da Rim & tries to show love authority in front of Ji Hyeok & Da rim only sees him as friend & she doesn't have romantic feelings for him .. whereas Yoo Ha Yeong actually love him but he doesn't love her because he feel in love with Da Rim although he knows that there will be nothing more than friends between him & Da Rim .. that why i said for me he is just good for nothing character ..

one thing i didn't liked about Da Rim is that she could have said everything to Ji Hyeok about her fake husband thing & he would have kept it a secret for her & would have helped her in everything ..

in ep.21 Jin Zhao broke up with her , because after his accident doctor said he might have to use crutches or use wheelchair for rest of his life & he doesn't want to become burden for her .. in ep.22 they meet again & still they love each other & Jiang Mu also want to get back with him , but not so easily because she was hurt because of the breakup .. from ep.22 to ep.25 she got to know what how much he had to suffer to recover from the accident & she checked his whole files of his recovery .. slowly she got soft & in ep.25 end continued from ep.26 they got back together ..
good drama .. should watch .. just the Qi Meng Lin character was too much irritating & frustrating for me from start to end .. in a drama sometimes a character can be less mature & that's no problem , but when the immature level becomes too much than it becomes irritating for me ..
