Just finished this and I really hope there is a sequel - it’s so good and it’s got so much potential…it’s a shame it’s not as popular due to it being geo blocked.
I really enjoyed it. Exactly what I’ve been looking for in Thai BL…a mature romance that also isn’t just about the romance.
watch the post credit scene! Joke is alive capture by someone
I did…still disappointed since there is no clear answer if there would be a new season. So I deem it pretty unnecessary that they’ve taken that approach.
I’m a sucker for mature male leads in Thai bl. So I knew I wasn’t gonna hate this…. It had its moments but I’m willing to turn a blind eye to them - still worth the watch.
I watched this while it was still airing in the early days, before it became really popular, and then took a break so I could binge it later. In the end, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. The hype had me looking forward to it, but while it wasn’t terrible - if you set aside the toxic and problematic aspects - it also wasn’t as amazing as I expected.
Overall, I’m just glad we got another completed Chinese LGBT+ series with a good ending, solid production, and decent acting.
Never seen Bridgeton or The Young Royals, in fact I never even heard of the second one, but I did enjoy the series,…
Bwahha I get what you mean though - they would have made a great drinking game (even though I don’t drink too) - but, I did find them to be bloody hilarious.
It was definitely intended for comic relief. Adding the fact that majority of the products didn’t fit the shows aesthetic.
They were iconic. It was camp. They had to have them, so they decided to go all out and make them a running joke.…
I thought they were bloody hilarious too…I think it was done deliberately - the fact that the products didn’t fit the aesthetic makes it more hilarious.
Which confirmed to me that they were intended as a comic relief.

Just read your review and I totally agree with all your statements. A lot of the criticism are very valid.
In regards to the advertisement - it actually became some sort of a comedic gag relief to me - and I actually think it might have been done deliberately.
Also, I’m from England so I am well aware of Downton Abbey. It was pretty big here, but I do feel it was more popular internationally.
I actually didn’t realise the money pumped into TNP was that much. And I can imagine majority is from the advertisement. It definitely had the potential to be more plot driven - I do feel like it was in a way, but not executed perfectly.

I saw some post about it on Reddit that weren’t so favourable while it was still on air - they never deterred me cause I really liked the snap shots I saw. The team clearly did a fantastic job with the production. I do agree that for the amount of money that was pumped into it could have been a lot more plot driven but I genuinely think compared so some recent Thai bl dramas it wasn’t too bad at all.
Also If you’ve never seen Young Royals please do. I highly recommend it. Waiting in between seasons all those years were absolute torture. It’s a Netflix LGBT Swedish show with 3 seasons.
Maybe it’s because I went into this show not expecting a plot-driven series, but I actually really enjoyed it - I was living!
It’s like a mix of Bridgerton and Young Royals, but extra campy, and I loved every minute of it. Waiting for the whole series to finish before watching was definitely the right call - I don’t think I would’ve had the patience to wait week by week.
Also, I think they were the perfect leads for the show. I couldn’t imagine any other actors playing these roles - they completely owned them.
Everything was just so pretty - the cinematography was drool-worthy. The plot could’ve been better, sure, but it wasn’t too bad.
I only watched this for nostalgia reasons cause I remembered them from SOTUS - which I watched when it first came out (I can barely remember the plot)…good old times. Back when we only had a peck for a kiss lol.
This was such a chill show. We need more mature Thai LGBTQIA+ stories!
Do I have criticisms? Yes… but did I enjoy every single second of it? Heck yes!
I really enjoyed it. Exactly what I’ve been looking for in Thai BL…a mature romance that also isn’t just about the romance.
I went in not having a clue what I was gonna get myself into and goodness me, was I put through a roller coaster ride. Highly recommend!
The cast did and incredible job playing their characters. Genuinely have no words.
I can’t believe I almost didn’t watch it. I have watched a LOT of new shows under this genre this year, and this has got to be the best one so far.
The actors did a phenomenal job. I’m pretty good at predicting the outcome of a show but a few of the plot twist in this legit knocked me off my feet.
Season 2 can’t come out soon enough!

The last episode was a bit of a snooze too. It wasn’t as engaging as I expected, considering the ratings, but it works well as a background watch.
I think the main leads definitely made it a lot less draining to watch. They did a good job with what they had.
Even though I’ve never gotten anything I do always find myself looking up some of the products.
The whole series was absolutely fantastic!

Regardless, I had a fun time watching it.
