Your comment is kind of incoherent, but I think I agree with most of it. It sounds like Sam is having some significant private problems, and I hope he focuses on taking care of himself. It is not unusual for artists who were previously unknown and then who experience sudden fame and success to have emotional/mental problems adjusting to their new reality.
However, I would suggest if he doesn't want to answer personal questions he simply reply "I have no comment." Celebrities do it all the time. Eventually the questions will stop coming if he refuses to answer them. He is under no obligation to talk about his personal life. But if he keeps doing it, he can't expect people not to talk about it.
The series' production and promotional company should be helping him out with this. It's possible he should take a break from fan-service appearances or stop doing them at all. They are stupid and ridiculous, usually teasing that the actors are a couple when that is usually far from being the case.
I am going to watch this interview commenters are talking about and see what I think. Sam's mental health should be the first priority. We all know what can happen to young artists, especially in the Asian entertainment business, who don't react well to fame and success.
Could you share where you get this kind of information? I am curious to read about it. Are you suggesting these…
Why do we "need to believe and keep supporting him?" Is this a K-Pop "army" comment board? I am just a consumer who enjoyed S1 of a BL series and is now following S2. It's not my job, or yours to "support" the actor or the show and cheerlead whatever happens or whatever is done. We are here to watch the show and react to it as we choose.
In prior comments you said Sam was drunk during that scene, and now you're saying he wasn't "really." Which is it?
I feel you mate, people are allowed to have their opinions, but it's downright ridiculous when they want every…
Thanks for your response. I'll have to reserve judgement on Shi De and Shu Yi as right now I think they are two of the worst-written characters I've seen, BL or otherwise. lol Too much crazy, illogical, unrealistic shit going down and zero exposition to help us put it in context. And there are only FIVE more half-hour eps to go. :P
Could you share where you get this kind of information? I am curious to read about it. Are you suggesting these…
Where are you getting the information? Instagram or something like that? Sam needs to be careful. Things like getting drunk on set to play a drunk scene is not a good habit for an actor to get into. I still can't believe the director allowed that.
He is desperate, I mean really desperate .... he has loved shu yi since childhood and than he was finally able…
Yeah, he loves him so much he hasn't bothered to contact or see him for five years. Please. I'm hoping there WILL be some kind of forced sexual incident. Hot drama!
Your analysis and theories are fascinating, but the most astute phrase in the entire post is "or some such nonsense."…
I wish the plot had provided Shu Yi with an established BF or GF at this point. I find it implausible that such a handsome, charismatic, intelligent and now powerful young man would remain single for very long, let alone five years. I suppose we're supposed to believe he's been pining for Shi De all this time and was rendered incapable of loving or trusting anyone else. Please. Maybe a GF or BF will come out of the woodwork in coming eps.
I made an error in their titles: 1) Shi De is CEO of Hua Cing Technology, and the creator of the company's new…
That's cool. I discovered the world of BLs just over a year ago and since then when it comes to film and series, if it isn't gay and Asian I'm not interested. lol I'm not sure why this is. Perhaps I was Asian in another life. I connect with these characters and stories in a way I just don't with most American-made films. I am a U.S. citizen also, living in NH. But my heart lives in Bangkok with side-trips to Seoul and Hong Kong. :D Tokyo too, I guess.
He has Asperger's + many other problems. With this lemme say I am SO happy they included a character which suffer's…
To me the question is why dilute an already intense story you don't have a lot of time to tell with a side-story at all? Probably basically a set-up for a spin-off. This series is only three hours long and we get 25 minute episodes once a week. I want the focus to stay where it belongs.
I just hope there will be no non-consensual senses, ruins the whole show for me :/
Then don't watch it. Non-consensual sex happens in real life, just like murder, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, blackmail, violence and all other shady behaviors. Eliminate all of those from the art of story-telling and you've got nothing to write about. What could add more fuel to the fire of angst, hatred and revenge in this show than some non-consensual sex and the resulting reaction?
Is it your belief that to portray awful behavior in a drama is automatically the same as to condone it? Every drama I've seen involving a rape or sexual assault has led to very negative consequences for the perpetrator. What more do you want?
I made an error in their titles: 1) Shi De is CEO of Hua Cing Technology, and the creator of the company's new…
Are you employed by the company that makes this show? The amount of time you would have to put in to decipher all these minute details is considerable and I'm just wondering if you're paid for it. Not dissing you, it's just a fact that production companies employ people to facilitate conversation on Internet chat threads.
Okay, I think I've put 2+2 together and got the answer now.First 2 [Gao Shi De]:He went to the USA, for what was…
Your analysis and theories are fascinating, but the most astute phrase in the entire post is "or some such nonsense." All of what you theorize is utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. So you start running a company. You don't have ten minutes a day to communicate with the man you spent your life loving who is now your partner? Bullshit. You wouldn't go out of your way to make sure he knows exactly what is going on and how much you love him? Bullshit. You're too busy? Bullshit. It's all bullshit, nonsense and stupidity. Unfortunately, I'm too invested to stop watching this train wreck. Perhaps that is the writer's intent. Either way, I have no respect for her or what she has done to this series.
Hearing about Sam having a lot of whiskey before filming the drunk scene (scenes?) in episode 2, I’m even more…
I have to disagree. I feel strongly that a capable, committed actor should be able to portray states of drunkenness without actually drinking alcohol. That's why it's called "acting." If the script were to portray Sam shooting up heroin, would he actually shoot up to "prepare" for the scene? Cocaine? Opiates? To actually drink for a drunk scene is extremely unprofessional and I'm surprised the director allowed it. An actor on set who is actually drunk could lead to a lot of problems, especially if the scene requires physical altercation with a fellow actor. To be drunk is to be out of control and that is not what any actor should ever be when doing their job. I have done a lot of amateur and semi-pro theater acting and I can't imagine doing what Sam apparently did or any director that would have allowed it. Sam needs to work on perfecting his craft and not relying on cheap short cuts like getting drunk for a drunk scene, for god's sake.
Sam&Yu changed a lot in the last weeks/months. Not only the characters in the series are different, they are different…
Could you share where you get this kind of information? I am curious to read about it. Are you suggesting these two are a couple in real life? I don't generally follow social media posts about shows I watch or the actors in them for two reasons. I don't want that information to cloud or otherwise effect my ability to absorb the show's story as it is presented, without bias brought on by silly gossip and suspect rumors from outside sources. Secondly, social media is deliberately manipulated by the companies who make these shows and there is no way to know if anything one reads there is true.
Am I the only one who finds it weird that so many commenters get all offended and put-out when characters display what they deem to be inappropriate behavior? Without violence, questionable actions, underhanded motives, sneakiness, lying, borderline sexual assault or rape, immorality, cruelty, age-inappropriate romance and sex, incest vibes, conspiracy, cheating, adultery, stealing, emotional blackmail, homophobia, alcohol abuse, etc. etc., BLs and all other dramas would be boring as hell. You would just have some people walking around all being wonderful to each other and always doing the right thing and it would be a snooze-fest.
Without questionable behavior there is no drama. Regarding We Best Love, I have seen comments questioning whether Shu Yi's second slap of Shi De was basically inappropriate, gratuitous violence. In threads about other shows the issue is very often gray areas surrounding sexual assault, seduction, rape, having sex with someone who is drunk, etc. The problem to me is that so many of these comments suggest the incidents portrayed should not have been included in the show and that to portray such things is the same as condoning them, and to me that is just ridiculous bullshit.
Jeez, if you want to watch puritanical, politically-correct pablum, go to the Lifetime Channel or maybe the Christian Broadcasting Network. BUT even on those pathetic venues you will find portrayals of all sorts of awful behavior. Without the darkness there can be no light.
To me the world is made up almost entirely of shades of gray. Black and white exist, but at the thin fringes. That's what makes life and art interesting as far as I am concerned. Thoughts?
After he hit him he said, "...there's only hatred. Get out or I'll call the police and sue you for trespassing..."so,…
Wow, Amastris, you analyzed this situation and the two slaps beautifully. I will strive to write my comments in a more articulate manner with you as my inspiration. :D I said in an earlier comment that I don't think I have ever hated a character in any show of any kind I've ever seen (and I'm old) the way I have come to hate Shi De. His arrogance and aggressiveness and insulting language and behavior was just so offensive, especially given the way he sort of smirked his way through it and demeaned Shu Yi's feelings every chance he got, as though Shu Yi was somehow out of line for despising him for his actions. Not an ounce of remorse! When Shi De told Shu Yi that his main problem was that he needed a good meal to calm him down, I wanted to climb into my computer screen and punch him myself.
Shu Yi hit Shi De twice in one episode. The first one I was like...okay, he gets to have one of those (and it…
I felt the same way about Shu Yi's intense acting and the anime vibe. After he struck Shi De the first time the look of disheveled fury on his face, with his hair all askew, was amazing and I thought "damn, he looks just like an anime drawing!" Glad to hear I wasn't the only one. Wish more BLs with this kind of intensity would strive for the same effect. It's very engaging.
The episodes are VIP for 1 week and everyone else can see it after that, although a lot of people have mentioned…
Hi there. Can you please help me out regarding WeTV? I would like to watch BLs there as I gather that is where the show makers will def make money. But I've been on the WeTV site and can't find a single BL. What the hell am I doing wrong? lol :D
Hi. You mention "all three movies." I am aware of Present Perfect and Present Still Perfect, but is there a third related film I am unaware of? If so, could you let me know what it is? Thanks.
