I would argue that his popularity is not due to Scarlet Ryeo. It is from his role as a clown from 2005/2006
Yeah, king and the clown really kickstarted his career, and not too long after he starred in Time between dog and wolf and iljimae, both of which saw considerable success.

Is this similar to american show Dexter ?
From what I know of dexter, no. Main male lead hasn't really killed that many people, and when he does / gets close it's for self preservation reasons.

He also hasn't technically killed anyone on screen but did admit to a murder, which he may or may not have done.

I should have gotten that XD

Psychopath Diary is not really comparable to It's okay that's love. It's definitely more of a crime drama than something that actually analyzes mental illness.

Haven't heard much about Schizoid Personality Disorder, but when Reporter Kim said he had ASPD and just kinda shook my head because he it was sorta like he was admitting a wrong (believing that HyunSu was possessed) then following it up with another misguided assumption. Really hoping both characters can grow.
For me, I still don't see any guilt.

I started It's okay to not be okay, and it is quite a blast to watch, but I'm too scared that they are gonna make ASPD into some 'fixable issue' that I've seen a lot of other forms of media do.

While I doubt Hyun Su has ASPD, he does appear to lack empathy. He seems to treat his wife well because he wants her in his life, rather than strong feelings of affection. Also he has emotions, he is often happy, mad, or anxious. He often feels wronged by the way people treat him, however he feels no remorse causing similar damage and is highly vindictive.
On the contrary, I think on the first date he attributed seeing his father with meeting her in general, since he'd also seen his dad when she confessed.

lol, good luck. Train was avg for me, I'd rec psychopath diary. what is FoE?

Or maybe he isn't guilty at all?
I would be kinda pissed if it turned out he didn't kill the foreman, just cause I'm tired of fake outs like that. While it doesn't seem the Hyun Su completely lacks empathy, he is pretty prone to committing crime without remorse.

The way I see it, either the watch has so much significance that he wouldn't even think to take it off OR it had so little significance to him that he forgot it was engraved. Either way it's an easily made oversight, just like when he closed the laptop when it was still hot.
He isn't exactly a criminal mastermind, just someone who grew up with a psychopathic father, and has no problem breaking the law if it's in his favor.

Seo In Guk and Park Bo Gum are great, but I couldn't really get into it cause I knew that the FL would drive me insane, breaking into the beautifully tragic crime story from time to time. I've watched the first 4-5 eps TWICE and I still don't remember a single one of her scenes.

On my second viewing, and I just adore the scene where Reporter Kim is trying to lie quickly and smoothly while defending his own past convictions that he says
"근데 그때는 나이 되면 좀 괜찮겠지 했는데 어찌나 똑같...."
"Back then I thought he'd get better as he got older, but turns out he's exactly the sa---"

I also like how they demonstrated in third episode that what he taught his daughter about reputation was accurate, with Reporter Kim being easily blamed for the scuffle.

he either dies saving Ji Won/Daughter, suicides or ends up in jail.
I'm leaning towards dies, based on the opening scene. Not likely he suicides since he was tied up in the bottom of a pool.

Well, he wasn't planning on committing a crime, and it's not under the name which is wanted.

Also I keep wanting to go back to Hello Monster, but unlike this one I just can't stand the female lead.

Ah.. crap. I don't watch the next time ons so that waiting is easier... this'll be killer. Maybe one of my friends has TVN and I can watch with them tomorrow.

The ep 4 cliffhanger will be the death of me!! Crazy good!!!
Tell me about it. I finished it this morning at 3am, already restarted the series while I wait... My sis is wasting her opportunity to watch the show on tv, whilst I'm stuck in the dorm without TVN, so I have to wait an extra 10 hours :/

I really, really hate serial killer dramas! But I love Jang Hyuk! what to do...?
if you already don't like Serial Killer dramas, I wouldn't rec this one. For me the characters make or break a crime drama, the first ep was rather boring. I'd rec giving 'Voice' a try instead

I am only on EP 2 and it's so twisted. He plays a good father but in all the wrong ways. I am conflicted and I…
yeah very much so. I find these characters intriguing and find myself giddy at all the morally wrong moments, like a proxy case of duping delight. When he was teaching his little girl about reputation that really hit home. I grew up with someone who always viewed me in a negative life, and so I became hyper focused on always being viewed as positive, the type of person that people would say "Such and such would never do X bad thing". My intentions and heart were incredibly manipulative, but I can't particularly say I did anything wrong. Since the result was a hard working, upright student.
Now if we're talking about things like him kidnapping Kim Moo Jin, and breaking into the one lady's house, I don't find those justifiable in any way.

After using this site for a couple of months, I have seen the bias of the international fans on kdramas. I'm guessing…
Major 2nd lead syndrome for oh my ghostess, and one or two cases other than that. but yeah, it's pretty uncommon. Actually I find a lot of the female characters in kdramas pretty unlikable as a whole. Exceptions being almost any character played by Park Bo Young, IU, Jeon Ji Hyeon, Kim So Hyun, and Kim Hye Soo. Those actresses just have such charisma that it's really hard to hate them.

Also I tend to notice acting and have a strict 'dont watch list' including some of the more popular 'oppas' (Starting from Lee Min Ho)

I am on episode 4 and I'm struggling to continue this drama. I just feel so disconnected to all the characters,…
I binged to ep 10 after 2 failed attempts of watching the first ep. as far as detective dramas go it's nothing special. As far as supernatural dramas go, also on the avg end. Overall it's 'fine', with Yoon Shi Yoon being the only reason I'm made it to ep 10.
Drama_woman Aug 9, 2020
I binged it yesterday cause I thought ep 10 would be the last... now I'm stuck waiting. This one is better than the OCN dramas I've seen in recent years, but still not as great as OCN used to be. Gotta love Yoon Shi Yoon though.
