Actually this is incorrect, Myeong SeungAh is not poor. She owns buildings in canada, dresses professionally, has the newest smartphone (I know, dramas tend to lose sight of that XD), and owns a camera that she uses for her personal hobby of 몰카 (taking photos without permission). She is there because she has a crush on Jo Yeong, not because she particularly needed that job.
I've seen MLFTS 3 times, and LotBS once. and those don't really matter... 1. I'd hardly say the female lead played her the same way. Cheon Song Yi was incredibly loud and boisterous, whereas FL here was more naive and quiet. When SY is nervous/embarrassed she nervous laughs, whereas Seo Hwa's portrayal has to do much more with smaller movements of the eyes and lips.
2. Hong Jin Kyung isn't really an actress, she likely came on this as a sort of cameo. in a similar way that Jo Jung Suk mentioned Jealousy incarnate.
3. Past life talk is pretty popular in Korean culture to the point where if something bad happens they'll say you must have been a traitor in a past life. These are not the first nor only dramas with a love story told in both joseon and modern day reincarnation. Also MLFTS wasn't reincarnation, it was just a case of look alike, and in this one they are both reincarnated.
