Yeah, I'mma have to look out for PSH in the future. This was my first Yoon Shi Yoon drama and despite how dorky his character gets he's a really good actor.
The script needs a lot of work.

BTW if you haven't seen strangers from hell, based on what you've said I think you'd really like it.

I made a typo in my original post, I meant to say "if it's TVN" instead of TV, but I think both apply. Because of broadcast laws dramas can't have too much more than your avg kiss, also they have to blur out things like cigarettes, knives etc... Not sure how gorey they are allowed to get. The most gruesome TV show I've seen was OCN's 'Strangers from hell', I've seen plenty of korean movies get that dark but never TV.

This one is going to crush me, but I'm still gonna give it a shot. Being on the just friends end sucks though, afraid saying anything will make your friendship awkward.

I generally assume that if it's TV it won't get too dark. OCN was my fave channel for forever because it has some of my fave darker dramas.

None to be found except a support's crush on the lead.

If you still want an answer I could try my best, I just don't know your tastes. For me I liked it from the get go, beginning was a bit slow but sped up really fast, No real romance getting in the way of the plot yet so thats a plus IMO, The acting is consistently good but the script is starting to wain a bit as it's coming to a close.
The pros to me are good solid cast, good cinematography, pays homage to other movies (I never would have watched 'the merciless' if it weren't mentioned), good premise, and great soundtrack.
Cons, a will she/won't she find out every now and then, cop outs/plot conveniences, and this one character I find extremely annoying, but she's an extra soo not as bad as it could be.

A common complaint I hear is about how dong shik reacts rather dumbly to most high-pressure situations.

Agreed, maybe we'll get one next season.

Masataka kubota is one of the only japanese actors I know so I did a double take when his name came up XD.

This movie taught me not to watch horror movies cause my favorite actor is in it.... now 5 years later I'm watching the sequel cause one of my favorite actors is in it XD

I'm further in and I can now say I wouldn't recommend. There is no rhyme or reason to the magic and this could have been a much shorter drama by cutting out unnecessarily repetitive struggles and uncharacteristic dumb choices.
